Practice: US Tax – Exempt Organizations / Form 990
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced US Tax Manager with strong expertise in Form 990 and US tax compliance for tax-exempt organizations. The individual will be responsible for managing complex tax engagements, reviewing tax returns, leading teams, and working closely with US-based clients and engagement teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review US Federal and State tax returns, primarily Form 990 series for tax-exempt organizations.
- Handle complex Form 990, 990-T, 990-PF and related filings.
- Review tax computations, workpapers, supporting schedules and tax research.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IRS regulations and US tax laws relating to exempt organizations.
- Manage multiple engagements and ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
- Review work prepared by Associates and Seniors and provide technical guidance.
- Lead and mentor team members, including training on Form 990 and exempt organization taxation.
- Communicate with US engagement teams and clients regarding tax matters, deliverables and technical issues.
- Identify potential tax issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Assist with process improvement,
quality control and standardization of tax compliance processes.
- Participate in client discussions and contribute to building strong client relationships.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience in US Tax.
- Strong hands-on experience with Form 990 / Exempt Organization Tax.
- Experience with Form 990, 990-T, 990-PF and related US tax filings.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of US Federal and State taxation.
- Prior experience in reviewing US tax returns and managing a team.
- Robust communication and client management skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with US CPA firms / Big 4 / US Tax outsourcing or Global Delivery Centers.
- Exposure to complex exempt organization structures and tax issues.
- Experience handling US-based clients and working with onshore engagement teams.
- Experience with US tax software and tax research platforms.
