Job Summary

Workday Extend Developer

Role Purpose

Design, build, deploy, and support secure Workday Extend applications that address business requirements not met through standard Workday functionality. The role works closely with functional, integration, security, architecture, and user-experience teams to deliver scalable applications within the Workday ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead technical discovery and translate business requirements into solution architecture, user journeys, data models, and delivery estimates.
- Develop Workday Extend applications using Workday-supported development tools, services, APIs, orchestration, and user-interface components.
- Integrate Extend applications with Workday business objects, business processes, security domains, reports, and external services.
- Design intuitive, accessible, and responsive user experiences aligned with enterprise standards.
- Implement authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, logging, monitoring, and audit controls.
- Conduct unit, integration, regression, performance, and security testing; support user acceptance testing and remediation.
- Manage source control, setting promotion, release documentation, deployment, and production support.
- Apply Workday development standards, secure coding practices, privacy-by-design, and architecture governance.
- Create technical specifications, support runbooks, test evidence, and knowledge-transfer materials.

Required Skills and Experience

- Hands-on experience designing and developing Workday Extend applications.
- Strong knowledge of Workday HCM or Financial Management business objects, business processes, reporting, security, and integrations.
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON, web services, data modelling, and modern application-development concepts.




- Understanding of software development life-cycle practices, DevOps, testing, troubleshooting, and application support.
- Ability to assess when Extend is appropriate versus configuration, reporting, integration, or third-party solutions.
- Strong stakeholder communication, technical documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Workday Extend certification or relevant Workday application-development accreditation is preferred.
- Additional Workday integration, HCM, Financial Management, reporting, or security certification is advantageous.
