1. Job Purpose

The School Nurse / Health Care In-charge will be responsible for providing first aid, basic medical care, health monitoring and emergency support to students and staff. The position requires close coordination with parents, teachers, HODs, coordinators and school management to ensure the health, safety and well-being of students throughout the school day and during school activities.

The Nurse will also be responsible for maintaining accurate health records, managing medication as per parental instructions, updating the MICM Health Portal and ensuring that the school infirmary and medical kits are properly maintained.

2. Key Job Responsibilities

Student Health & First Aid

- Provide immediate first aid and basic medical assistance to students in case of injuries or illness.
- Assess the nature and severity of injuries and provide appropriate first aid.
- Attend to sports-related injuries, classroom injuries, minor accidents and general health concerns.
- Monitor students after treatment and determine whether they can return to class or require further medical attention.
- Identify serious or critical medical conditions and immediately escalate them to the concerned authority and parents.
- Coordinate hospitalization or emergency medical assistance whenever required.

Student Check-ups & Infirmary Management

- Handle regular daily visits of students to the infirmary, including approximately 50–60+ students as required.
- Evaluate symptoms and provide appropriate treatment within the scope of professional responsibilities.
- Maintain proper records of student visits, symptoms, treatment and follow-up.
- Ensure that the infirmary remains clean, organized, hygienic and adequately stocked.

Parent Communication & Coordination

- Respond promptly and professionally to health-related communication received from parents.
- Communicate with parents regarding injuries, treatment, medication and medical concerns.
- Forward relevant information to the respective HODs, teachers, coordinators or concerned authorities.
- Obtain necessary confirmations and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student health information.

Medication Management

- Administer medicines strictly as per the instructions and timings provided by parents and in accordance with school procedures.
- Verify the student, medicine, dosage, timing and instructions before administering medication.
- Maintain proper records of medication administered.




- Ensure medicines are stored safely and securely.
- Immediately report any discrepancy, adverse reaction or medical concern to the concerned authority and parents.

MICM Health Portal & Health Records

- Record and update student health and infirmary visits on the MICM Health Portal.
- Maintain accurate details of student complaints, symptoms, treatment, medication and further action taken.
- Ensure parents receive the applicable automated health notification regarding their child's infirmary visit and treatment through the MICM system.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date medical records.

Sports & Extra-Curricular Activities

- Provide first aid and medical support during sports and other extra-curricular activities.
- Attend to injuries and medical emergencies during school activities.
- Communicate promptly with parents whenever medical attention is required.
- Coordinate with sports teachers, coaches and activity coordinators during medical emergencies.

Medical Kit & Stock Management

- Regularly inspect medical kits available across the school.
- Conduct periodic checks of first-aid supplies and medical consumables.
- Check expiry dates and condition of medicines and medical supplies.
- Maintain proper stock records.
- Raise requisitions for replenishment of medical supplies whenever required.
- Report shortages, expired medicines or damaged medical equipment immediately.

Emergency Management & Safety

- Respond promptly to medical emergencies anywhere on the school premises.
- Provide first aid and stabilize the student until further medical assistance is arranged.
- Inform the Principal/Management/concerned authority and parents in serious cases.
- Arrange or coordinate emergency medical assistance or hospitalization when required.
- Remain calm and qualified while handling emergency situations.
- Participate in school health, safety and emergency preparedness procedures.

Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain accurate daily records of medical visits, injuries, treatments and medication.
- Prepare health-related reports as required by the School Management/Principal/HR Department.
- Maintain records of significant or recurring health concerns.




- Ensure all medical documentation is complete, accurate and confidential.

3. Qualification & Experience

- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / ANM or equivalent recognized nursing qualification, as applicable.
- Valid registration with the relevant Nursing Council, wherever applicable.
- Prior experience as a School Nurse, Pediatric Nurse, Clinic Nurse or Hospital Nurse will be preferred.
- Experience in handling children and school-related injuries will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of first aid, emergency response and medication administration.
