Position: X-Ray & CT Technician
Department: Radiology / Diagnostic Services
Location: SANMAT Hospital, Jamtara, Jharkhand
Employment Type: Full time
Salary: ₹14,000 – ₹18,000 per month, depending on qualification and experience

2. Job Purpose
The X-Ray & CT Technician will be responsible for operating X-Ray and CT Scan equipment safely and efficiently, conducting diagnostic imaging procedures as prescribed by doctors, ensuring patient safety and comfort, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the smooth functioning of the Radiology Department.
The technician will be expected to maintain high standards of radiation safety, equipment handling, patient care, image quality, documentation, and departmental hygiene.
3. Key ResponsibilitiesA. X-Ray Operations
- Perform routine X-Ray examinations as prescribed by the treating doctor/radiologist.
- Operate X-Ray equipment safely and efficiently.
- Position patients correctly to obtain accurate and diagnostically useful images.
- Select appropriate exposure factors according to the examination and patient condition.
- Ensure proper identification of patients and examinations before imaging.
- Review images for technical quality and repeat images only when clinically/technically necessary.
- Maintain proper records of X-Ray procedures performed.
B. CT Scan Operations
- Operate CT Scan equipment in accordance with established protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
- Prepare and position patients appropriately for CT examinations.
- Select appropriate CT protocols based on the examination requested and instructions of the radiologist/authorized medical professional.
- Ensure proper patient identification and examination details before scanning.
- Assist with contrast-enhanced CT procedures as per hospital protocol and under appropriate medical supervision.
- Monitor patients during the procedure and immediately report any abnormal reaction or emergency to the concerned medical professional.
- Ensure proper image acquisition and transfer/storage of CT images.
C. Patient Care
- Explain the procedure to patients in a polite and understandable manner.
- Ensure patient comfort, privacy, dignity, and safety throughout the procedure.
- Provide appropriate assistance to elderly, pediatric, critically ill,
or physically challenged patients.
- Follow all applicable precautions for pregnant or potentially pregnant patients.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff whenever patient condition requires additional support.
D. Radiation Safety
- Strictly follow radiation safety protocols and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Use appropriate radiation protection equipment such as lead aprons and shields wherever required.
- Follow the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle.
- Ensure that unauthorized persons do not enter controlled radiation areas.
- Maintain radiation safety practices for patients, staff, attendants, and visitors.
- Immediately report any equipment malfunction or radiation-safety concern to the concerned authority.
E. Equipment & Department Management
- Conduct routine checks of X-Ray and CT equipment before use.
- Report equipment malfunction, abnormal noise, error messages, or technical problems immediately.
- Coordinate with authorized service engineers/vendors for preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of the Radiology Department.
- Ensure proper availability and protected handling of consumables and accessories.
- Assist in maintaining equipment/service/maintenance records.
F. Documentation & Records
- Maintain accurate records of all X-Ray and CT procedures performed.
- Ensure proper patient registration, examination details, and reporting workflow.
- Maintain daily/monthly departmental statistics as required by management.
- Ensure proper storage and confidentiality of patient imaging data and records.
- Assist in maintaining records required for hospital audits, inspections, and statutory compliance.
G. Coordination & Teamwork
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, radiologists, nurses, hospital administration, and other departments.
- Attend emergency imaging requirements as and when required.
- Support smooth patient flow and minimize unnecessary waiting time.
- Follow hospital SOPs, policies, rules,
and instructions issued by management.
- Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality at all times.
4. Qualification
Essential:
- Diploma / Degree in Radiology, Medical Radiology & Imaging Technology, Radiography, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Relevant registration/certification wherever applicable.
Preferred:
- Experience in both X-Ray and CT Scan operations.
- Candidates with hospital/diagnostic centre experience will be preferred.
- Freshers with relevant qualification and practical exposure may also be considered, depending on competency.
5. Experience
Preferred Experience: 1–3 years in a hospital or diagnostic centre.
Candidates having hands-on experience in both X-Ray and CT Scan operations will be given preference.
6. Required Skills & Competencies
- Hands-on knowledge of X-Ray and CT Scan procedures.
- Good understanding of radiation safety.
- Ability to operate diagnostic imaging equipment responsibly.
- Good patient-handling and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, including emergency situations.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with digital imaging/PACS systems will be an advantage.
- Ability to work cooperatively with doctors, nurses, and hospital staff.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including emergency/night duties, as per hospital requirements.

8. Working Conditions
The position is based at SANMAT Hospital, Jamtara, Jharkhand.
The selected candidate may be required to work in rotational shifts and attend emergency diagnostic requirements as per the operational needs of the hospital.
Free food and accommodation will be provided by the organization, subject to applicable hospital/management rules.
