Job Summary
Kargeen Restaurant is looking for hardworking and enthusiastic Commis Chefs to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate should have a passion for cooking, basic knowledge of food preparation, and the willingness to learn and develop their culinary skills in a professional restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chef de Partie and senior kitchen staff with daily kitchen operations.
- Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meat, poultry, seafood, and other items as instructed.
- Carry out basic food preparation, cutting, chopping, marinating, and portioning.
- Assist with mise en place before and during service.
- Follow recipes, preparation methods, and portion standards.
- Assist in preparing and cooking dishes under the supervision of senior chefs.
- Maintain consistency in food quality and presentation.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the assigned kitchen section.
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with receiving, checking, and storing kitchen supplies when required.
- Minimize food wastage and use ingredients efficiently.
- Keep kitchen equipment and work areas clean and organized.
- Work effectively with other kitchen team members during busy service periods.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Commis Chef or Kitchen Helper is preferred.
- Freshers with a culinary qualification or relevant training may also apply.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of Indian, Kerala, or multi-cuisine cooking is an advantage.
- Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety.
- Willingness to learn and take instructions from senior chefs.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work versatile shifts, weekends, and holidays.
