Nursing Superintendent for a 150-bed multi-specialty hospital, Virudhunagar
Overview
Aruna Children Hospital Group (‘Aruna Hospital’) is embarking on an exciting venture—an upcoming 150-bedded state-of-the-art multi-specialty hospital on the Virudhunagar–Sattur Highway, Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu. Our goal is to deliver world-class treatment tailored to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the Virudhunagar region.
Spanning approximately 1 lakh sq. ft across the hospital and hostel blocks, Aruna Hospital is envisioned as a Centre of Excellence for key specialities such as trauma care, cardiac care, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, dialysis and more.
Location: Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu (on-site)
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Lead the overall nursing services and ensure delivery of safe, effective and high-quality patient care in compliance with hospital policies, NABH and applicable regulations.
- Establish and implement nursing standards, clinical protocols, care pathways and documentation requirements across ICU/CCU, NICU, paediatrics, emergency/trauma, maternity, OT, cath lab, dialysis and other clinical areas.
- Drive patient safety, infection prevention, medication safety, quality improvement and compliance across all nursing units.
- Ensure appropriate nursing documentation, patient care plans, clinical records and adherence to approved nursing practices through regular rounds and audits.
- Lead emergency preparedness, including triage, emergency response, code drills and mass-casualty preparedness.
Nursing Administration and Commissioning
- Develop the nursing organisation structure, job descriptions, manpower plan, recruitment and staffing requirements in line with phased bed commissioning and occupancy ramp-up.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, induction, duty roster planning, shift allocation and reserve/reliever planning for nursing and support staff.
- Develop nursing policies, SOPs, manuals,
documentation formats, consumable requirements and inventory/indent processes, including requirements for NABH readiness.
- Participate in HIS/EMR workflow and documentation design, go-live planning, mock drills and commissioning activities with the Transition Manager and hospital support functions.
- Manage nursing-related complaints, staff performance and disciplinary matters, and provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to the nursing team.
Training and Development
- Design and conduct pre-opening induction, orientation and competency programmes, including BLS, ACLS, PALS, neonatal resuscitation and specialty-specific clinical skills.
- Establish ongoing nursing education, competency assessment and re-orientation programmes, and ensure staff remain updated on current clinical practices and standards.
Key Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and verbal skills In Tamil
- High levels of digital literacy and broad understanding of clinical data analytics
- Working knowledge of nursing workforce planning using INC norms and shift-based staffing models
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Nursing required with valid RN license and registration with the relevant State Nursing Council
- Experience as supervisor in 150+ bedded multi-specialty hospital is desirable with 8 - 10 years of the overall experience.
- Must have a working knowledge of hospital quality systems and international best practices, including NABH, JCI and others
- Must display an understanding of local/ national laws and guidelines, including INC norms and applicable Tamil Nadu clinical establishment regulations
