Position: Surgical Associate – Operation Theatre

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Surgical Associate to join our Operation Theatre team. The candidate should have solid practical exposure to Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery , Oncology, and General Surgery and should be capable of assisting surgeons effectively during various surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures and ensure smooth OT functioning.
- Provide hands-on assistance in Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics,Oncology and General Surgery.
- Prepare and arrange surgical instruments, equipment, implants and consumables before procedures.
- Assist with patient preparation, positioning, draping and surgical site preparation.
- Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques throughout procedures.
- Anticipate the surgeon's requirements and provide appropriate instruments and assistance during surgery.
- Coordinate with surgeons, anaesthesia team, OT nurses and other OT staff.
- Ensure proper counting of instruments, swabs and surgical materials.
- Assist in emergency and urgent surgical procedures.
- Ensure proper OT cleaning, disinfection and turnover between procedures.
- Maintain OT records, checklists and other required documentation.
- Follow hospital infection-control, patient-safety and OT protocols.
Required Surgical Experience
The candidate should have practical exposure to:
Neurosurgery
- Craniotomy and related neurosurgical procedures
- Spine surgeries
- Other routine neurosurgical procedures
Orthopaedic Surgery
- Fracture fixation / ORIF
- Trauma procedures
- Joint replacement / arthroplasty exposure
- Spine and other orthopaedic procedures
General Surgery
- Laparoscopic and open procedures
- Hernia
- Appendectomy
- Cholecystectomy
- Other routine general surgical procedures
Qualification
Candidates with any of the following qualifications may be considered:
- BHMS – Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery
- BAMS – Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery
- Physician Assistant (PA) Course / Bachelor’s or Diploma in Physician Assistant
- Other relevant qualifications in Operation Theatre / Surgical Technology
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant OT experience.
- Hands-on experience in Neuro, Orthopaedic, Oncology and General Surgery is essential.
- Good knowledge of surgical instruments and OT procedures.
- Strong understanding of sterile and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to anticipate and support the surgeon during procedures.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts and emergency/on-call duties.
