Software Architect – IoT & Business Applications

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Software Architect to take ownership of designing and delivering software solutions for our RFID, IoT and business application projects.

You will work closely with our European management to understand business objectives, customer requirements and operational workflows, and translate these into practical technical solutions. You will help determine what needs to be built, how the components should work together and how to organise development through to delivery.

Our projects include inventory and asset tracking, warehouse processes, business platforms, dashboards, handheld applications and integrations between connected devices and customer systems.

Our deployment approach is primarily on-premises, using local servers, customer infrastructure and IoT gateways. You should be comfortable developing applications and deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting them in Linux and Docker environments.

This role combines software architecture, active development, technical leadership and practical infrastructure responsibility.

Key responsibilitiesSoftware architecture and development

- Work directly with European management to understand requirements, clarify business processes and turn ideas into clear specifications and implementation plans.
- Design application architecture, databases, APIs and integrations that are practical, maintainable and suitable for the intended use.
- Personally develop core functionality, implement complex integrations and resolve technical challenges.
- Integrate software with RFID readers, handheld devices and other hardware using APIs, SDKs and vendor documentation.
- Connect applications with ERP, POS, warehouse and other business systems.
- Design reliable data processing and synchronisation, including handling repeated events, interrupted connections and failed updates.
- Review existing software and identify opportunities to improve reliability, maintainability and reuse across projects.

On-premises infrastructure and deployment

- Set up and maintain application environments on Linux servers and local infrastructure using Docker and Docker Compose.




- Configure the services needed to run applications, including web servers, databases, messaging services, networking and persistent storage.
- Establish secure remote access to customer environments, servers and IoT gateways in coordination with customer IT.
- Develop repeatable build and deployment workflows, including staging environments, configuration management, database updates and rollback procedures.
- Implement useful logging and monitoring, investigate operational issues and maintain backups with tested recovery procedures.
- Manage credentials, access permissions, certificates and basic system hardening.
- Automate repetitive setup, deployment and maintenance tasks where practical.
- Document installation, configuration, deployment and support procedures so other team members can operate the systems.

Technical leadership and delivery

- Guide the development team through technical planning, task definition, code reviews and practical problem-solving.
- Take responsibility for delivery from initial concept and prototyping through testing, deployment and ongoing improvement.
- Communicate progress, estimates, technical decisions and risks clearly.
- Identify missing information, dependencies and situations requiring specialist input.

Required experience and skills

- A strong software development background, with experience designing and delivering complete applications.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Strong backend development, SQL database design and systems integration skills.
- Experience working across application architecture, APIs, business logic, databases and web interfaces.
- Practical experience with Linux, Docker and Docker Compose, including deploying and troubleshooting applications.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SSH, firewalls and ports.
- Experience with secure remote access,



application configuration and production troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with version control, testing and build/deployment automation.
- Experience providing technical direction, reviewing code and supporting developers.
- Clear spoken and written English, with the ability to explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- The ability to work independently, make practical decisions and take responsibility for delivery.

We are particularly interested in what you have personally designed, built, deployed and supported. Relevant experience and sound technical judgement matter more than a specific previous job title.

Relevant technical background

Experience with the following technologies, or comparable alternatives, is relevant:

- Application development: PHP/Laravel, relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, REST APIs and JSON.
- Infrastructure: Linux, Docker, Docker Compose, and Nginx or Apache.
- Deployment and automation: Git, CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, and scripting with Bash or Python.
- Secure access: VPN technologies such as WireGuard or OpenVPN, TLS certificates and access control.
- IoT communication: MQTT, device APIs and vendor SDKs.
- Monitoring: Application and infrastructure monitoring using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or suitable alternatives.

We value practical understanding and the ability to learn unfamiliar systems. Experience with every named tool is not required.

Useful additional experience

- RFID, IoT, connected devices or industrial systems integration.
- Inventory, warehouse, asset tracking, retail or logistics software.
- SaaS platforms, multi-tenant applications and partner-branded software.
- Android applications, handheld scanners, printers or other device integrations.
- MongoDB or other document databases.
- AI-assisted development, automation or deploying AI services.
- Cloud or hybrid environments and Kubernetes.
- Working with European customers, management or international development teams.

Direct IOT/RFID experience is an advantage. Candidates with robust software architecture, development, integration and deployment experience are also encouraged to apply.

Pay: ₹1,023,122.65 - ₹2,505,796.87 per year
