Kalady
The Geologist will be responsible for geological assessment, exploration, quality evaluation, resource estimation, and technical monitoring of quarry/mining operations. The role involves ensuring optimum utilization of mineral resources while supporting statutory compliance, production planning, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Geological Survey & Assessment
- Conduct geological surveys and investigations of quarry/mining areas.
- Study rock formations, mineral deposits, geological structures, and quarry characteristics.
- Identify and evaluate mineral resources and assess their quality and suitability for production.
- Maintain updated geological maps, sections, plans, and technical records.
- Resource Estimation & Mine Planning
- Estimate available mineral reserves and resources.
- Support quarry development and production planning based on geological conditions.
- Identify economically viable extraction areas and recommend suitable quarrying methods.
- Monitor depletion of reserves and maintain systematic resource records.
- Quality & Material Evaluation
- Monitor the quality and consistency of extracted materials.
- Coordinate with the Quality Control team for sampling, testing, and analysis.
- Evaluate geological factors affecting aggregate quality and production.
- Recommend corrective measures where material quality does not meet required standards.
- Quarry Operations Support
- Coordinate with quarry, production, drilling, blasting, and technical teams.
- Provide geological inputs for drilling and blasting activities.
- Monitor excavation progress and geological changes within the quarry.
- Identify potential geological risks and recommend appropriate preventive measures.
- Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure geological activities and documentation comply with applicable mining and quarrying regulations.
- Support preparation and submission of geological reports, production details, resource statements, and other statutory documents.
- Maintain records required by relevant government and regulatory authorities.
- Coordinate with consultants, government departments, and statutory authorities whenever required.
- Technical Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly geological and quarry-related reports.
- Maintain records of production, reserves, geological observations, sampling, and resource utilization.
- Prepare technical presentations and reports for management review.
- Provide timely recommendations to management based on geological findings.
- Safety & Environmental Coordination
- Identify geological hazards and support safe quarry operations.
- Coordinate with safety and environmental teams regarding quarry-related risks.
- Monitor geological conditions that may affect slope stability, excavation safety, and overall quarry operations.
- Support sustainable and productive utilization of mineral resources.
Qualifications
- M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Geology / Applied Geology / Mining Geology or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant professional certification or statutory eligibility for quarry/mining operations will be an advantage.
Experience
- 3–8 years of relevant experience in quarrying, mining, mineral exploration, or construction-material industries.
- Experience in hard-rock quarry operations, geological mapping, reserve estimation, and quarry development will be preferred.
- Candidates with Kerala quarry/mining regulatory experience will be given preference.
