This role will be responsible for ensuring that we have the right people, in the right roles, with the right skills — and a clear pathway for their growth.
The role goes beyond traditional HR administration. The candidate will work closely with the School Leadership Team to build a strong teaching team, improve teacher performance, develop future leaders, and create a culture of continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Workforce Planning & Staffing
- Assess current and future staffing requirements across academic and non-academic functions.
- Develop annual staffing plans based on student strength, sections, subject requirements and school growth.
- Identify staffing gaps and proactively plan for upcoming vacancies.
- Maintain an effective teacher-to-student and staff deployment structure.
- Analyse workload and allocation of responsibilities across departments.
2. Recruitment & Hiring
- Own the end-to-end recruitment process for teachers and key school staff.
- Develop clear job descriptions and competency requirements for each role.
- Source, screen and shortlist candidates.
- Coordinate interviews, demonstrations, assessments and reference checks.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of high-quality teaching talent.
- Develop a structured selection process to assess both subject competence and teaching ability.
- Maintain a database of potential candidates for future requirements.
3. Performance Management
- Establish and manage a structured teacher performance evaluation system.
- Define KPIs and performance indicators for different roles.
- Coordinate periodic performance reviews and feedback conversations.
- Work with academic leadership to identify high performers, underperformers and development needs.
- Develop Performance Improvement Plans where required.
- Ensure performance evaluations are objective, consistent and evidence-based.
4. Teacher Training & Professional Development
- Identify training and development needs based on teacher performance and classroom requirements.
- Create an annual teacher development and training calendar.
- Coordinate internal and external training programmes.
- Work with academic leaders to develop training around pedagogy, classroom management, assessment, technology and student engagement.
- Track the effectiveness of training programmes and their impact on classroom performance.
- Build a culture of continuous learning among teachers.
5. Succession Planning & Leadership Development
- Identify high-potential teachers and staff who can take on greater responsibility.
- Create clear career pathways for teachers and academic staff.
- Develop succession plans for key positions such as Coordinators, Heads of Department and other leadership roles.
- Identify critical positions where the school has a single-point dependency.
- Create development plans to prepare future school leaders.
- Support internal promotion and leadership development wherever appropriate.
6. Employee Engagement & Culture
- Build a positive, qualified and performance-oriented school culture.
- Understand employee concerns and improve communication between staff and school leadership.
- Conduct periodic employee engagement and feedback initiatives.
- Support employee onboarding and integration.
- Help create systems that improve teacher retention and job satisfaction.
7. HR Systems & Data
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Develop HR dashboards and reports covering staffing, recruitment, retention, performance and training.
- Track key people metrics and provide actionable insights to school leadership.
- Establish standard HR processes and SOPs across the employee lifecycle.
Key Outcomes Expected
The successful candidate will be expected to help the school:
- Have the right staffing levels and skill mix throughout the academic year.
- Reduce dependency on last-minute hiring.
- Build a strong pipeline of qualified teachers.
- Create a transparent and effective performance evaluation system.
