JOB DESCRIPTIONProject Management Group (PMG) – Tool Room / Tooling Division1. Position Details
Position: PMG Engineer / Senior Engineer
Department: Project Management Group – Tool Room
Function: Tool & Mould Project Management
Reports To: Head – Tool Room / Tooling Division
Location: Bangalore
1. Job Purpose
To plan, coordinate, monitor and successfully execute mould, press tool, die and tooling projects from customer PO/order receipt through design, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, trial, correction and final dispatch, ensuring adherence to committed quality, cost and delivery timelines.
The PMG role acts as the central coordination point between Customer, Design, Purchase, Stores, Production, Machining, EDM, Grinding, Heat Treatment, Texturing, QA, Assembly and external suppliers.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Project Planning & Scheduling
- Study customer requirements, PO, drawings, BOM and technical specifications.
- Prepare detailed project execution plans and tool manufacturing timelines.
- Develop stage-wise schedules covering:
- Design
- DFM
- Tool/Mould base procurement
- Raw material procurement
- Standard elements
- Premachining
- CNC machining
- EDM/WEDM
- Grinding
- Heat treatment
- Texturing/coating
- Assembly
- Inspection
- T0/T1 trials
- Corrections and final dispatch
- Establish project milestones and monitor critical-path activities.
- Identify potential delays in advance and initiate recovery plans.
B. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Design, Purchase, Stores, Production, QA, Tool Assembly and Finance.
- Conduct regular project review meetings.
- Ensure action points are assigned to responsible persons with transparent deadlines.
- Escalate critical issues to management without delay.
- Ensure smooth information flow between internal teams and suppliers.
C. Material & Procurement Coordination
- Track raw material, mould bases, standard elements, Misumi/Fibro components and other purchased items.
- Coordinate with Purchase for PR/PO release and supplier follow-up.
- Monitor supplier delivery commitments.
- Ensure materials are available as per the manufacturing schedule.
- Develop alternate suppliers where required for critical or long-lead items.
- Monitor material shortages and initiate immediate recovery actions.
D. Manufacturing Monitoring
- Track daily progress of all major manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate machining capacity and machine allocation.
- Monitor CNC, EDM, WEDM, grinding, jig boring and other critical operations.
- Coordinate outsourced processes such as heat treatment, texturing, coating and special machining.
- Monitor job movement between different locations/suppliers.
- Ensure priority jobs are loaded and completed as per the project schedule.
E. Quality & Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with QA for inspection and quality clearance.
- Ensure manufacturing is carried out according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Track dimensional inspection reports and non-conformities.
- Coordinate correction/rework activities.
- Support technical discussions related to manufacturability, tolerances, machining allowances and process requirements.
- Ensure customer design changes are properly communicated and incorporated.
F. Tool Assembly & Trial Management
- Plan tool/mould assembly activities based on component readiness.
- Monitor assembly progress and ensure all required components are available.
- Coordinate T0/T1 trial planning with production/customer teams.
- Prepare trial readiness status.
- Track trial observations, corrections and action points.
- Ensure corrections are completed within the agreed timeline.
- Coordinate final inspection, documentation and dispatch.
G. Customer Communication
- Prepare regular project status updates for customers.
- Communicate project milestones, risks, delays and recovery plans professionally.
- Coordinate customer reviews and technical discussions.
- Maintain records of customer comments and approvals.
- Ensure customer commitments are communicated internally and followed up.
H. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project trackers and dashboards.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly project status reports.
- Maintain project MOM and action trackers.
- Monitor PO value, project cost and major procurement commitments.
- Maintain records of design approvals, inspection reports, trial reports and final documentation.
- Ensure project data is updated in ERP/MIS systems.
3. Educational Qualification
Essential:
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Tool & Die Making or related discipline.
Preferred:
- Diploma/B.E. in Tool & Die Engineering.
- Project Management certification is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA and automotive project processes is desirable.
4. ExperienceEngineer / Senior Engineer
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in tool room, mould manufacturing, press tools, dies or precision engineering.
- Experience in project tracking and cross-functional coordination.

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
