Rinwera Designs is a premier garment manufacturing house based in Santacruz West, Mumbai, specializing in high-end ethnic wear for women and kids. We are expanding our material and quality protocols and are looking for an experienced Fabric Expert & Sourcing Advisor to lead vendor relationships, drive material testing standards, and guide our production and design teams.

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned textile professional with deep, hands-on technical knowledge of traditional and contemporary Indian fabrics—specifically sourcing, vendor management, and technical evaluation across major textile hubs like Surat, Banaras, and South India.

This role focuses heavily on strategic sourcing, rigorous material testing, and acting as a technical consultant to troubleshoot fabric performance issues and optimize garment quality between our operational hub and our Santacruz West headquarters.

Key Responsibilities1. Vendor Sourcing & Cluster Management

- Leverage established networks across major textile clusters in Surat, Banaras, and South India to source high-quality ethnic fabrics (including Banarasi brocades/silks, Surat synthetics/prints, and South Indian cottons/silks).
- Vet, negotiate, and build strong relationships with mills and weavers to secure competitive pricing, favorable lead times, and consistent quality standards.
- Coordinate sample development and bulk material procurement schedules aligned with production deadlines.

2. Fabric Testing & Quality Assurance





- Establish and oversee comprehensive fabric testing protocols (covering color fastness, shrinkage tolerance, seam slippage, pilling, and GSM consistency).
- Inspect bulk fabric lots prior to dispatch to ensure strict adherence to technical parameters and design specifications.
- Investigate fabric defects or batch failures, issuing corrective actions to vendors and ensuring quality compliance before material enters the production pipeline.

3. Technical Advisory & Cross-Functional Support

- Act as the resident subject matter expert on textile behavior, fabric hand-feel, weave integrity, and garment fall.
- Regularly travel to our Santacruz West office and manufacturing units to advise design and production teams on fabric limitations, structural compatibility, and sewing dynamics (e.g., preventing needle cutting or distortion).
- Recommend alternative material substitutions and innovative weave modifications to solve production bottlenecks and enhance product longevity.

Candidate Requirements

- Experience: Minimum 5 to 8+ years of hands-on experience in textile sourcing, fabric quality control, and testing within the ethnic wear or apparel manufacturing sector.
- Geographical Knowledge: Deep familiarity with textile markets, manufacturing clusters, and artisan networks in Surat, Banaras, and South India.
- Technical Acumen: Strong expertise in fabric construction analysis, yarn identification, chemical/physical testing standards, and predicting textile reactions to processing and washing.
- Mobility: Flexibility to travel regularly between Bhiwandi and Santacruz West.
- Skills: Excellent vendor management, analytical problem-solving skills, and robust cross-functional communication.
