Job Purpose
The Lab Automation Specialist supports the identification, definition, and deployment of laboratory automation solutions across bp's R&D; laboratories, but with particular focus on setting up the current Bengaluru Technology Centre for Day 1 operations. Working as part of the Lab Automation, LIMS & Data Management team, the role acts as a key interface between laboratory stakeholders and technical delivery teams, ensuring automation solutions are aligned with business objectives, laboratory operations, safety requirements, and user expectations.
Working closely with scientists, laboratory teams, automation specialists, digital teams, and external partners,
the role is responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements, analysing laboratory workflows, and translating user needs into clear requirements that support automation delivery.
Key Accountabilities
• Facilitate requirements gathering activities through workshops, interviews, process mapping, and stakeholder engagement.
• Engage with scientists, laboratory personnel, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand current processes, challenges, and automation opportunities.
• Support the definition of project scope, objectives, requirements, and success criteria for laboratory automation initiatives.
• Document business, process, functional, and data requirements using agreed standards and methodologies.
• Develop and maintain current-state and future-state process maps.
• Analyse laboratory workflows to find opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, quality, data integrity, and user experience through
