Electrical Technician Electrical Controls & Power Systems Job Description The Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electrical machinery, control systems, wiring, and plant utility equipment. Working closely with maintenance engineers and shop/-floor supervisors, this role carries out preventive maintenance routines, responds to electrical breakdowns, and performs physical troubleshooting to ensure operational safety, regulatory compliance, and minimal production downtime. Key Duties Perform routine maintenance on industrial motors, transformers, control panels, switchgear, and power distribution systems, including preventative, predictive, and breakdown maintenance. Identify and fix electrical problems in starters, relays, contactors, variable frequency drives, single/-phase and three/-phase circuits, and simple PLC I/O modules. Follow schematic and single/-line schematics while performing electrical wiring,
conduit piping, cable tray installation, wire stripping, crimping, and termination. Auxiliary equipment such as air compressors, motor control centers, diesel generators, and continuous power supplies should be inspected, maintained, and serviced. To conduct tests for voltage, current, insulation, and continuity, use precision electrical testing equipment. During all electrical repair work, strictly adhere to industrial safety standards, appropriate grounding/earthing, personal protective equipment protocols, and lockout/tagout procedures. In accordance with 5S guidelines, keep thorough breakdown logs, daily activity sheets, shift handovers, and spare parts usage records.
