Overview

Overview

TIDE is a set of cyber risk products for insurance and reinsurance clients. You’ll lead the Mumbai engineering team day to day and help turn agreed priorities into clear, sequenced work.

You’ll stay close to the code, the design and the delivery. This role suits someone who likes solving problems, supporting people and shaping both the team and the product it ships.

The team is small and newly formed. So you’ll help set the way it works as well as what it builds.

How You’ll Make an Impact

You’ll turn the TIDE roadmap into a practical engineering plan for the Mumbai team. You’ll break work into clear steps, agree milestones and keep delivery moving. You’ll make proportionate choices on data flows, APIs, apps and automation, and you’ll raise security or architecture questions when they need wider input.

You’ll also set the tone for how the team works. You’ll review code and designs, support testing, keep documentation current and hold a explicit standard for release. You’ll coach two developers, help them through decisions they have not faced before, and keep workload balanced so the team can do its best work.

Your responsibilities will include:

- turning product priorities into sequenced work with clear acceptance criteria
- leading solution design from problem to production release

- reviewing code, testing, documentation and releases
- helping the team ship stable, repeatable services, not one-off scripts
- working with the Delivery & Commercial Lead and domain specialists to keep work useful and supportable
- building monitoring, access control, recoverability and clear support notes into solutions from the start
- supporting incidents and helping the team fix the root cause when issues arise

You’ll stay close to Python, SQL, data pipelines and Streamlit, while working within the architecture, standards and security set by the Technical Lead. You’ll also help explain technical choices in plain language, so people outside engineering can make informed decisions.

About You

Here’s what you’ll bring to the role:

- You’ve led or shaped software delivery and you still like to stay close to the code.
- You can work across Python, SQL and data pipelines.
- You’ve built apps in Streamlit or a similar Python framework.
- You review code with care and keep testing and release steps clear.
- You can weigh up architecture and security choices and explain them simply.
- You’ve supported developers through design, build, test and production support.
- You write clearly and choose simple, maintainable ways to solve problems.
- You’ve used AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude or ChatGPT, and you can show how you use prompts, context and checks well.
- You’ve worked with a distributed team, a controlled environment or a data-heavy product.

How you'll make an impact

- Set the standard for code quality, testing, documentation and review. Keep the team’s work consistent.
- Review designs and code. Help unblock developers and coach them through decisions.
- Work with the Delivery & Commercial Lead and domain specialists to make sure what’s built is useful, supportable and commercially relevant.
- Build observability, access control, data handling and recoverability into solutions from the start.
- Own the team’s technical documentation so the products can be supported by more than one person.
- Support incident resolution and help improve the root cause.
