India Sourcing & Supplier Development Manager – Steel Products
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: India – Home based / Remote with frequent factory travel
Compensation: USD $1,500–$2,000/month, depending on experience, plus performance bonus and business travel reimbursement
A U.S.-based shelving brand is looking for an experienced Sourcing & Supplier Development Manager in India to develop qualified manufacturers for heavy-duty steel shelving and related fabricated steel products.
Responsibilities
• Identify, visit and qualify reliable steel fabrication and shelving manufacturers throughout India.
• Evaluate factory equipment, manufacturing capability, capacity, quality systems and management.
• Develop suppliers for steel sourcing, roll forming, punching, welding, wire decking, powder coating and packaging.
• Negotiate FOB pricing, tooling cost, MOQ, lead time and payment terms.
• Verify steel sources, mill certificates and material traceability.
• Coordinate samples, tooling, trial production and production follow-up.




• Conduct basic factory/product inspections and follow corrective actions.
• Prepare clear sourcing, factory visit and quality reports for U.S. management.

Qualifications
• 7+ years of sourcing, procurement or supplier-development experience.
• Strong background in steel fabrication, sheet metal, shelving/racking, metal furniture, automotive components or similar manufacturing.
• Positive understanding of roll forming, punching, welding and powder coating.
• Proven experience finding and developing new factories, not just managing existing suppliers.
• Able to read basic engineering drawings and evaluate product quality.
• Experience with U.S./European export manufacturing preferred.
• Good English communication and reporting skills.
• Willing to travel frequently throughout India.
• Independent, hands-on, reliable and high integrity.
