Role Overview
We are looking for an Electronics Hardware Design Engineer to design and develop the analog and power hardware for underwater acoustic communication systems. You will work on the full signal chain: hydrophone receive electronics, transmit power amplifiers driving acoustic transducers, and the supporting mixed-signal and power circuits. You will own hardware from schematic through PCB layout, bring-up, debugging, and validation.

Key Responsibilities
• Design analog and mixed-signal circuits for underwater communication modems and acoustic transceivers operating in the low-frequency (kHz to a few hundred kHz) range.
• Design low-noise preamplifiers and receive front ends for hydrophones and piezoelectric sensors, including filtering, gain staging, and ADC interfacing.
• Design transmit power amplifiers (linear and Class D/switching) to drive piezoelectric and other acoustic transducers efficiently.




• Design impedance matching and tuning networks between the amplifier and the transducer, including transformers and magnetics (ferrite core selection, winding design).
• Create schematics and PCB layouts in KiCad and Altium Designer, with attention to low-noise layout, grounding, shielding, and power integrity.
• Design power supply circuits (isolated and non-isolated DC-DC, LDOs, battery-powered supplies) with low noise and high efficiency.
• Bring up new boards and debug at board and component level.
• Characterize and validate designs using CRO, spectrum analyzer, multimeter, and LCR meter.
• Perform root cause analysis of hardware failures and implement design fixes.
• Support integration into sealed, pressure-rated housings, working with mechanical teams on connectors, potting, and thermal management.
