Position : Visual Arts Teacher
IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)
Role summary:
To nurture creativity, imagination, visual literacy, and self-expression through inquiry-led, age-appropriate Visual Arts experiences within the IB PYP framework.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based art experiences connected to PYP units of inquiry.
• Develop foundational understanding of the elements of art—line, colour, shape, form, texture, pattern, and space.
• Facilitate exploration of diverse media, materials, tools, techniques, and art-making processes.
• Foster curiosity, experimentation, creative confidence, and individual artistic expression.
• Introduce children to diverse artists, artworks, cultures, and visual traditions.
• Encourage student agency, choice, reflection, and age-appropriate artistic dialogue.
• Document learning through portfolios, observations, process documentation, and exhibitions.
• Integrate Visual Arts with transdisciplinary themes, key concepts, Learner Profile attributes, and ATL skills.
• Provide inclusive, differentiated experiences responsive to students’ developmental needs and interests.
• Maintain a safe, stimulating, and well-organised art studio environment.
Qualifications & Competencies:
• Degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Art Education, Design, or related field; teaching qualification preferred.
• Solid understanding of primary-age art education and child development.
• Familiarity with IB PYP, inquiry-based and transdisciplinary learning.
• Strong proficiency in age-appropriate art materials, techniques, and creative processes.
• Prior IB PYPexperience preferred.
