- Handle end-to-end design and development of new automotive components.
- Prepare 2D/3D designs, engineering drawings, BOMs and control plans using CAD tools.
- Work on AutoCAD and preferably Creo for component and tooling design.
- Lead/assist in concept design, process design, tool design, gauges and product launch activities.
- Perform design calculations and initial product feasibility studies.
- Participate in APQP, PPAP, DFMEA and PFMEA activities.
- Coordinate with production teams for trial runs, process validation and product testing.
- Support tool manufacturing, tool material selection and tooling activities.
- Apply GD&T;, material standards and customer-specific requirements in designs.
- Identify and implement design, cost, quality and manufacturing improvements.
- Evaluate the impact of design changes on tooling, process, cost and quality.
- Prepare and update engineering documents and drawings after approval.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing and Quality teams for drawing clarifications and implementation.
- Support SOP and production ramp-up activities.
- Raise engineering change requests and recommend necessary design/drawing corrections.
Preferred candidate profile
- 25 years of experience in Mechanical Design / Product Design / Automotive Component Design.
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in automotive components or manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience in 2D/3D mechanical design and engineering drawings.
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD; Creo preferred.
- Experience in BOM, tooling, gauges and product development.
- Knowledge of GD&T;, design calculations and material standards.
- Exposure to APQP, PPAP, DFMEA and PFMEA.
- Understanding of tool manufacturing and DFM (Design for Manufacturing).
- Experience coordinating with Production, Quality and Tooling teams.
- Positive communication and presentation skills.
- Candidates with hands-on automotive component design and development experience will be preferred.
