Machine Setup & Tooling: Mount fixtures, align workpieces, load raw materials, and install the correct cutting tools into the automatic tool changer (ATC). [1, 2, 3]
Offsets & Coordinates: Establish and verify exact work offsets (G54–G59), tool length/radius offsets, and coordinate systems on controllers like Fanuc or Siemens. [1, 2]
Program Loading & Proving: Load, verify, and edit G-code/M-code programs, running a "dry run" or first-piece prove-out to validate the machining process before mass production. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Quality Inspection: Measure initial and finished parts using precision instruments like micrometers and Vernier calipers to ensure they match engineering drawings and GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specs. [1, 2]
Troubleshooting & Optimization: Adjust cutting parameters (feeds, speeds, and tool paths) to fix chatter, dimensional errors, or surface finish flaws and handle minor machine alarms. [1, 2, 3]
Maintenance & Safety: Maintain daily 5S workplace organization, perform basic preventative maintenance, and adhere strictly to shop-floor safety regulations. [1, 2, 3]
