Sous Chef

Location: Simmakkal, Madurai
Salary: ₹40,000 – ₹50,000 per month

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations. The ideal candidate should have solid restaurant kitchen experience and be capable of maintaining consistent food taste, quality, portion size, presentation, and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities
Manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef.
Supervise kitchen stations during service and ensure smooth workflow.
Prepare and check dishes according to standard recipes.
Maintain consistency in taste, portion size, and plating.
Plan daily preparation and mise-en-place activities.
Check the quality of raw materials during receiving and follow FIFO practices.
Monitor food cost and minimize food wastage.
Train, guide, and supervise Commis Chefs and kitchen helpers.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow FSSAI, HACCP, and GMP standards.
Assist with menu updates and recent dish trials.
Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance issues.





Requirements
10 years of experience in a restaurant kitchen.
Minimum 1 year of experience as Senior Cook / CDP / equivalent senior kitchen role.
Strong knowledge of South Indian cuisine; knowledge of other cuisines is an advantage.
Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, storage, and kitchen operations.
Ability to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Culinary Diploma / Degree preferred.
