Key Responsibilities:
Medication Management
Ensure proper dispensing of medicines as per valid prescriptions.
Check medicine name, strength, dosage, quantity and expiry before dispensing.
Ensure protected and rational use of medicines.
Pharmacy Inventory Management
Maintain adequate stock of medicines, surgical items and pharmacy consumables.
Monitor stock levels and prepare purchase/reorder requirements.
Follow FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) for medicines.
Identify expired, damaged or near-expiry medicines and take appropriate action.
Hospital Pharmacy Operations
Supervise day-to-day functioning of the hospital pharmacy.
Ensure timely availability of medicines for inpatient and emergency departments.
Coordinate with doctors, nurses, purchase and stores departments regarding medication requirements.
Prescription & Medication Review
Review prescriptions for completeness and possible medication errors.
Identify potential drug interactions, duplication,
contraindications or dosage issues and communicate concerns to the treating doctor.
Controlled & High-Risk Medicines
Maintain proper records of controlled, narcotic and high-alert medicines as applicable.
Ensure secure storage and authorized dispensing of such medicines.
Cold Chain & Storage
Maintain proper storage conditions for medicines, including temperature-sensitive medicines.
Monitor and document refrigerator/storage temperatures regularly.
Documentation & Records
Maintain pharmacy registers, stock records, issue/receipt records and expiry records.
Ensure proper documentation of medicine consumption and stock movement.
Prepare pharmacy-related reports for management.
Staff Supervision
Supervise junior pharmacists and pharmacy assistants.
Allocate duties and monitor staff performance.
Provide training on dispensing procedures, medication safety and pharmacy SOPs.
Patien
