Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with 4+ years of experience in Chemical/API manufacturing plants. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining plant machinery and equipment, ensuring maximum equipment availability, minimizing breakdowns, and carrying out preventive and predictive maintenance activities safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

- Handle mechanical maintenance activities of chemical/API manufacturing plant equipment.
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment to minimize plant downtime.
- Maintain and troubleshoot pumps, agitators, reactors, centrifuges, dryers, filters, compressors, gearboxes, blowers, valves, heat exchangers, and other process equipment.
- Handle maintenance of utility equipment such as cooling towers, chilled water systems, air compressors, boilers, thermic fluid systems, and related equipment.
- Conduct routine inspection of mechanical equipment and identify potential failures.
- Ensure proper alignment, lubrication, vibration monitoring, and condition monitoring of rotating equipment.
- Coordinate with Production and other departments for planned maintenance and shutdown activities.
- Prepare and maintain maintenance schedules, checklists, equipment history, and breakdown reports.
- Maintain adequate inventory of critical mechanical spare parts.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance work.




- Supervise maintenance technicians, fitters, and contract manpower.
- Support installation, commissioning, modification, and replacement of mechanical equipment.
- Participate in plant shutdown and turnaround maintenance activities.
- Carry out root-cause analysis of recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs, safety procedures, and maintenance standards.
- Follow proper PTW, LOTO, hot work, confined space, and other safety procedures during maintenance activities.
- Ensure housekeeping and safety standards are maintained in the maintenance area.
- Maintain proper documentation of preventive maintenance, breakdowns, inspections, and equipment history.

Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering may be considered based on relevant experience.

Experience

- Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance.
- Experience in Chemical / API / Pharmaceutical manufacturing plants preferred.
- Hands-on experience with process equipment and rotating machinery is required.
- Experience in plant shutdown and maintenance activities will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills

- Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment.
- Knowledge of pumps, reactors, agitators, centrifuges, dryers, compressors, gearboxes, heat exchangers, valves, and piping systems.




- Knowledge of mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, lubrication systems, and alignment.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance planning and spare-parts management.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office and maintenance documentation.
- Knowledge of safety procedures applicable to chemical/API plants.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with API/chemical process plants.
- Experience in plant shutdown/turnaround activities.
- Knowledge of CMMS/Maintenance Management Systems.
- Positive troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Good coordination and team-management skills.
- Ability to work in a production-oriented environment and respond to emergency breakdowns.
