About the School: The Bagchi School of Public Health at Ahmedabad University is an interdisciplinary school engaged in research and education addressing contemporary public health challenges through environmental, quantitative and translational approaches. The research focuses on atmospheric aerosols and their chemistry in the atmosphere, oxidative potential - health-relevant characteristics of aerosols, with an emphasis on developing experimental and field-based approaches for understanding aerosol composition and toxicity.
Role Summary: The Research Assistant will support the development and implementation of laboratory and field-based research activities related to atmospheric aerosol characterisation. The position will involve aerosol sampling, laboratory setup and organisation, research instrumentation, sample management, field campaign support, procurement and basic instrument interfacing and automation. The candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator and research students and will have opportunities to develop practical skills in scientific instrumentation, environmental measurements, data acquisition and laboratory automation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in aerosol sampling and field campaigns
- Support laboratory instrument/material procurement, organisation and routine maintenance
- Assist in scientific instrumentation, data acquisition and basic laboratory automation
- Support day-to-day research activities
Key Skills
- Basic knowledge of electronics, instrumentation and/or scientific equipment
- Basic programming skills (Python/MatLab) and familiarity with instrument interfacing
- Valuable organisational, documentation and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work in both laboratory and field environments
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree (BE/BTech) in Computer Science, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Environmental Engineering or related disciplines
- Demonstrated interest or skills in programming, electronics, instrumentation or scientific equipment
