Role Overview
- Accountable for the overall strategy, performance, and governance of manufacturing operations across in-house plants and Contract Manufacturing (OEM) partners. Own production, quality, cost, delivery, and compliance outcomes at a multi-site level. Lead a team of Production Heads/Managers and shape capacity, capability, and cost roadmaps in line with aggressive business growth as a key member of the operations leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Governance: Lead and govern end-to-end manufacturing operations across all in-house facilities and Contract Manufacturing partners.
- Production Strategy: Own the production strategy and annual operating plan, ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly targets are achieved while optimizing capacity.
- OEM Framework: Establish the OEM governance framework, including performance reviews, capability audits, scorecards, and escalation mechanisms.
- Change Management: Ensure timely implementation of approved BOM revisions, ECNs, and engineering changes with strict change-control discipline.
- Quality Control: Own Line/Process Quality Control (LQC), including first-off approval, in-process inspections, patrol audits, and rejection reduction.
- NPI & Collaboration: Partner with SCM, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Manufacturing Engineering for uninterrupted production, NPI readiness, and localization initiatives.
- Budget & Capex: Plan and manage the production budget and capex (tooling, automation, line expansion) while meeting unit and conversion cost targets.
- Compliance & Safety:
Ensure compliance with statutory, EHS, customer, process, and factory requirements across in-house and OEM facilities.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, automation, and productivity improvement to drive cost optimization and waste reduction.
- Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and develop a leadership pipeline of Production Heads, Managers, and Supervisors while maintaining healthy shop-floor relations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering (or a related field).
- Post-Graduation: MBA in Operations is a strong plus.
- Certifications: Lean / Six Sigma certification is preferred.
- Systems: Proficiency with ERP/MES systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics).
Key Competencies
- Strategic planning coupled with sharp P&L; and budget ownership.
- Solid shop-floor leadership, manpower planning, and large-team management.
- Deep knowledge of OEM / Vendor governance and contract manufacturing management.
- Expertise in production planning execution, process improvement, and cross-functional coordination.
- High-level data-driven decision-making and rapid problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to leadership development and robust succession planning.
