Assistant Manager – Human Resources (HR)

Organization: The Vanda Hotel

Reporting To: HR Manager / Head of Human Resources

Position Summary

The Assistant Manager - HR is responsible for supporting and managing the day-to-day human resource functions of The Vanda Hotel, ensuring effective recruitment, employee engagement, performance management, training and development, statutory compliance, payroll coordination, and employee relations. The role contributes to creating a positive work setting that supports the hotel's operational excellence and guest service standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

- Manage end-to-end recruitment processes for hotel operations and support functions.
- Coordinate manpower planning with department heads.
- Source, screen, interview, and shortlist candidates.
- Conduct onboarding and induction programs for new employees.
- Maintain talent databases and succession planning initiatives.

2. Employee Relations & Engagement

- Foster a positive employee relations climate across all hotel departments.
- Address employee grievances and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies.
- Organize employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and welfare initiatives.
- Support employee communication and feedback mechanisms.

3. Performance Management

- Coordinate the performance appraisal process.
- Assist department heads in setting performance goals and reviewing employee performance.
- Monitor performance improvement plans and follow-up actions.
- Support succession planning and career development initiatives.

4. Training & Development





- Identify training needs through performance reviews and operational requirements.
- Develop and coordinate annual training calendars.
- Conduct orientation and soft-skills training sessions.
- Monitor training effectiveness and maintain training records.

5. Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Support

- Assist in payroll preparation and verification.
- Ensure timely processing of employee benefits, leave records, and attendance data.
- Support compensation benchmarking and salary review exercises.
- Maintain HRMS and employee records accurately.

6. HR Operations & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with labor laws, hotel policies, and statutory requirements.
- Maintain employee personnel files and HR documentation.
- Support audits related to HR and statutory compliance.
- Prepare monthly HR metrics and management reports.

7. Policy Implementation

- Implement and communicate HR policies and procedures.
- Review existing HR practices and recommend improvements.
- Ensure adherence to hotel standards and code of conduct.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Time-to-fill vacancies.
- Employee retention and turnover rates.
- Training completion and effectiveness scores.
- Employee engagement and satisfaction levels.
- Statutory compliance adherence.
- Recruitment cost optimization.




- Accuracy of HR records and payroll inputs.

Educational Qualifications

- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources, Personnel Management, or related field.
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.

Experience

- 5-8 years of HR experience, preferably within the hospitality, hotel, resort, or service industry.
- Experience in handling recruitment, employee relations, training, and HR operations.
- Knowledge of labor laws and statutory compliance.

- Understanding of hotel operations and hospitality workforce management.
- Experience managing shift-based employees.
- Exposure to service culture and guest-centric environments.
- Ability to work during peak hotel operation periods when required.

Working Conditions

- Full-time position based at The Vanda Hotel.
- May require flexibility in working hours to support hotel operations and events.
- Interaction with employees across all hotel departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B;, Kitchen, Engineering, Finance, and Sales & Marketing.
