Accountant – Accounts Department
Department: Accounts & Finance
Location: New Alipore, Kolkata
Reporting To: Accounts Manager / Finance Head
Industry: Hospitality
Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and responsible Accountant to join our Accounts & Finance team. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing day-to-day accounting transactions, assisting with statutory compliance, reconciliations, billing, vendor payments and other accounting activities.
The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of accounting principles, Tally/ERP, MS Excel, GST and basic statutory compliance, preferably with experience in the hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Accounting
- Record and maintain day-to-day financial transactions.
- Prepare and verify journal entries, vouchers, invoices and payment documents.
- Maintain accurate books of accounts and supporting documentation.
- Assist in maintaining cash, bank, purchase and sales records.
- Ensure timely posting of all accounting transactions.
Accounts Payable
- Verify vendor invoices against purchase orders, bills and supporting documents.
- Process vendor bills and prepare payment requests.
- Maintain vendor ledgers and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate with Purchase and other departments for invoice verification.
Accounts Receivable
- Prepare and maintain customer/company invoices.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with concerned departments.
- Maintain customer and corporate ledgers.
- Assist in collection and reconciliation of outstanding balances.
Bank & Ledger Reconciliation
- Perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile customer, vendor and general ledger accounts.
- Identify discrepancies and coordinate for timely resolution.
GST & Statutory Compliance
- Assist in GST-related accounting and documentation.
- Ensure proper recording of GST on purchases and sales.
- Assist in preparation of data required for GST returns and audits.
- Maintain records and documents required for statutory compliance.
Hospitality Accounts
- Verify daily revenue and supporting documents from Front Office, F&B; and other revenue-generating departments.
- Assist with daily revenue reconciliation.
- Verify cash, card, UPI and other payment collections.
- Coordinate with operational departments regarding billing discrepancies.
Payroll & Employee Accounts Support
- Assist the Accounts/HR team with payroll-related accounting entries.
- Support PF, ESIC, Professional Tax and other statutory payment documentation as required.
Audit & Reporting
- Maintain proper documentation for internal and statutory audits.
- Assist in preparing schedules, reports and supporting documents.
- Provide accounting information to the Accounts Manager/Finance Head as required.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of Tally / ERP accounting software.
- Good command of MS Excel.
- Knowledge of GST and basic statutory compliance.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Valuable attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work within deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
Qualification
- B.Com / M.Com / equivalent qualification preferred.
- Candidates with relevant accounting experience and strong practical knowledge may also be considered.
Experience
2–5 years of relevant experience in Accounts & Finance.
Experience in Hotels, Resorts, Restaurants, F&B; or Hospitality will be preferred.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Hospitality accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with Tally/ERP and Excel.
- Knowledge of GST, bank reconciliation, vendor reconciliation and day-to-day accounting.
- Candidates based in Kolkata will be preferred.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
