We develop the Virtual Magnet Synchronous Motor (VMSM), integrating motor architecture, power electronics and proprietary control software. Its application roadmap includes electric two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, LCVs, commercial vehicles, integrated e-axles and high-power industrial systems. The company is moving from active pilots towards OEM programmes, licensing/manufacturing opportunities and production scale-up.
1. New Business Development & Market Creation
· Identify, qualify and develop opportunities with automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, industrial equipment manufacturers, system integrators and strategic technology partners.
· Build a strong pipeline across EV two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, LCV/CV, e-axles and relevant industrial applications.
· Map target accounts, decision makers, technology influencers, procurement stakeholders and programme timelines.
· Create account-entry strategies where the technology requires education, technical validation and business-case development.
· Develop partnerships, pilots, demonstrations, licensing opportunities and strategic collaborations where appropriate.
2. Technical / Consultative Sales
· Understand customer requirements such as power, torque, speed range, duty cycle, voltage, packaging, cooling, efficiency, cost and expected annual volume.
· Work with engineering and product teams to translate requirements into suitable VMSM configurations and technical proposals.
· Lead technical presentations, application discussions, proof-of-concept conversations and value demonstrations.
· Explain the potential advantages of magnet-free motor architecture, including supply-chain resilience, localisation and software-defined control.
· Participate in technical evaluations, validation discussions and application reviews through the customer programme lifecycle.
3. OEM & Key Account Management
· Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Engineering, R&D;, Purchasing, Program Management, Manufacturing and Business leadership.
· Act as commercial owner for assigned strategic accounts and maintain executive-level engagement.
· Develop multi-year account plans and identify platform expansion, repeat-business and cross-selling opportunities.
· Maintain disciplined customer follow-up, opportunity reviews and action closure.
4. RFQ, Commercialisation & Negotiation
· Coordinate RFIs, RFQs, techno-commercial proposals, costing inputs, quotations and commercial negotiations.
· Work with Engineering, Finance, Procurement and Operations to establish commercially viable proposals.
· Support pricing strategy, business cases,
commercial terms, contracts and programme award negotiations.
· Track opportunities from lead generation through nomination, development, SOP and revenue realisation.
5. Entrepreneurial Ownership
· Operate with a founder-like mindset: identify opportunities proactively rather than waiting for inbound enquiries.
· Create new customer segments, channels and partnership models where the technology can solve a meaningful customer problem.
· Test new commercial propositions, build early customer interest and convert promising pilots into scalable business.
· Take ownership of revenue outcomes, customer relationships and market feedback.
· Bring external market intelligence into product and technology strategy.
6. Market Intelligence & Strategy
· Track EV powertrain, motor, inverter, e-axle and industrial motion trends, competitor technologies and customer investment plans.
· Benchmark competing motor architectures, total system cost, localisation, performance and supply-chain considerations.
· Identify segments where VMSM’s magnet-free architecture can create differentiated value.
· Provide management with structured inputs on market size, pricing, competitors, customer requirements and emerging opportunities.
7. Cross-Functional Leadership
· Work closely with R&D;, motor design, power electronics, embedded controls, applications engineering, manufacturing, procurement, quality and finance.
· Coordinate customer feedback into product development and application prioritisation.
· Ensure commercial commitments align with technical capability, manufacturing readiness and programme timelines.
· Support customer visits, prototype evaluations, plant visits and technology demonstrations.
Ideal Candidate Profile
· Engineer by education, preferably B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical, Electronics, ECE, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automobile or a related discipline.
· Solid sales/business-development background in EVs, automotive components, electric motors, power electronics, industrial automation, drives, motion control or another technically complex B2B product.
· Demonstrated ability to sell to OEMs, Tier-1s, industrial customers or technology-led businesses.
· Strong technical curiosity and ability to discuss motor systems, power electronics, controls, EV architectures and application requirements with engineering teams.
· Entrepreneurial, commercially aggressive and comfortable building a market rather than only managing an existing customer base.
· Strong network among Indian automotive/EV OEMs and/or industrial customers is highly desirable.
· Excellent presentation, negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
· Comfortable with frequent customer travel across India and, when required, international travel.
· Strong ownership, persistence, speed of execution and ability to work in a fast-moving deep-tech/start-up environment.
Preferred Technical Exposure
· EV traction motors, motor controllers/inverters, e-axles or electric powertrains.
· Permanent-magnet motors, induction motors, synchronous machines or other electric motor architectures.
· Power electronics, motor control, embedded controls and vehicle/system integration.
· EV 2W/3W/4W, LCV/CV or industrial motor applications.
· Automotive OEM programme lifecycle: concept → RFQ → prototype → validation → nomination → industrialisation → SOP.
· Costing, value engineering, localisation and supply-chain considerations for automotive products.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Qualified sales pipeline value and coverage.
· New customer / OEM acquisition.
· Customer meetings, technical evaluations and qualified opportunities.
