Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and responsible Sonography Technician to operate ultrasound equipment and assist in performing diagnostic imaging procedures. The candidate will be responsible for conducting ultrasound examinations as per physician instructions, maintaining accurate patient records, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ultrasound and sonography examinations as prescribed by doctors/radiologists.
- Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures and explain the examination process clearly.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound/sonography equipment efficiently.
- Perform routine scans including abdomen, pelvis, obstetric, small parts, thyroid, breast, and other relevant studies as per hospital requirements.
- Assist radiologists/consultants during specialized ultrasound procedures when required.
- Ensure proper patient identification and verify examination requests before performing scans.
- Maintain accurate patient records, scan details, and relevant documentation.
- Ensure proper positioning of patients to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Follow hospital protocols for infection control, patient safety, and equipment handling.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the ultrasound room and equipment.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunction or technical issue to the concerned department.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for smooth patient care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow hospital policies and professional standards.
- Handle emergency cases and prioritize urgent examinations as directed by the medical team.
- Ensure proper storage and management of ultrasound images and reports.
- Follow all applicable legal, ethical, and hospital guidelines related to diagnostic imaging.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of ultrasound/sonography procedures and equipment.
- Strong patient-handling and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy multispecialty hospital workplace.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as with radiologists and medical teams.
- Knowledge of hospital safety, hygiene, and infection-control protocols.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including emergency/rotational duties if required.
Qualification
Diploma / B.Sc. in Medical Imaging Technology, Radiology & Imaging Technology, Sonography, or equivalent qualification, as applicable to the role and local regulatory requirements.
Experience
1–3 years of relevant experience in a hospital, diagnostic centre, or multispecialty healthcare setup preferred.
Department Coordination
The candidate will coordinate with Radiologists, Consultants, Nursing Staff, OPD/IPD Departments, Emergency Department, and other hospital departments to ensure timely and efficient diagnostic services.
