Job Description - Assistant Financial Controller

About the Role
The Assistant Financial Controller will support the overall financial control and performance management of Skyla Collective across existing properties, business units and upcoming projects.
The role will have significant ownership across budgeting and cost control, cash flow, receivables and payables, profitability analysis, financial controls, MIS, project funding, procurement compliance, audit support, inventory costing and financial analytics.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with both numbers and business operations and should be able to convert financial data into meaningful insights and actions for management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Prepare, roll out and monitor Opex and Capex budgets across existing and new business units.
- Conduct monthly budget-versus-actual analysis and provide transparent root-cause commentary.
- Track departmental costs across F&B;, Housekeeping, Engineering and other functions.
- Identify cost overruns, leakages and areas of improvement and drive corrective actions.
- Partner with operational teams to improve cost consciousness and budget adherence.
- Drive cost optimisation initiatives through vendor negotiations, rate contracts and process improvements.
2. Cash Flow, Receivables & Payables
- Monitor daily/weekly cash position and support effective liquidity planning.
- Manage and monitor accounts receivable ageing, collections and customer balances.
- Work with Sales and Operations teams to improve collection cycles and resolve outstanding balances.
- Monitor vendor liabilities, payment schedules and ageing.
- Maintain appropriate payment cycles while avoiding unnecessary vendor escalations.
- Prepare and maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
3. Profitability & Unit Economics
- Support monthly profitability analysis across properties, brands and business units.
- Track Revenue, GOP, EBITDA and key cost indicators.
- Analyse unit economics and identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Provide management with actionable insights rather than only reporting raw financial numbers.
- Support EBITDA improvement initiatives through cost and margin analysis.
4. Financial Controls, Compliance & Risk Management
- Strengthen financial controls across revenue, expenses, procurement, payments, inventory and other finance processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with applicable GST, TDS, PF, ESI, Income Tax and other statutory requirements, in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Identify financial control gaps, leakages and process deviations.
- Conduct periodic internal control reviews and follow up on corrective actions.
- Maintain continuous audit readiness and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
- Ensure audit observations are tracked and closed within agreed timelines.
5. MIS, Dashboards & Management Reporting
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly P&L;, MIS, receivables ageing and management reports.
- Develop and maintain dashboards covering:
- Revenue
- Cost
- Margins
- EBITDA
- Cash Flow
- Receivables
- Unit Economics
- Provide meaningful commentary on financial performance, trends and variances.
- Support management with forecasting, scenario planning and financial decision-making.
- Improve reporting processes through automation and data-driven dashboards.
6. Project Funding & Financial Planning
- Support financial planning for new properties, projects and business initiatives.
- Prepare project funding requirements and supporting financial documentation.
- Track fund disbursement and utilisation against approved budgets.
- Monitor project-wise expenditure and highlight deviations or potential funding gaps.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and management to ensure financial requirements do not delay project execution.
7. Procurement Compliance & Vendor Management
- Ensure compliance with approved procurement processes and Purchase Order requirements.
- Validate vendor bills, GST documentation, pricing and supporting documents before processing.
- Support standardisation of procurement processes and SOPs for key spend categories.
- Conduct periodic vendor performance reviews for key vendors.
- Identify procurement leakages and opportunities for savings.
- Support vendor negotiations and alternate-vendor development where required.
8. Accounts Finalisation & Audit Support
- Support monthly,
quarterly and annual book-closing activities.
- Ensure financial records and reconciliations are complete and accurate.
- Coordinate with relevant teams for timely closure of outstanding accounting items.
- Support statutory, internal and management audits.
- Ensure books and supporting schedules are maintained in an audit-ready condition.
9. Inventory & Costing Controls
- Conduct or coordinate periodic physical-versussystem inventory audits.
- Review inventory variances and ensure proper reconciliation.
- Monitor expiry, damage, wastage and stock movement.
- Support food and departmental costing processes.
- Ensure costing sheets and inventory-related financial records remain accurate and current.
10. Financial Analytics & Automation
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive finance reporting and control processes.
- Develop dashboards and analytical tools to improve management visibility.
- Generate meaningful financial insights and recommendations on a regular basis.
- Support digitalisation and process-improvement initiatives within Finance.
11. Administrative & Business Support
- Support management with finance-related administrative requirements.
- Coordinate with local authorities, government bodies and other stakeholders where required for financerelated matters.
- Support licence, permit and renewal-related financial/administrative activities.
- Undertake additional finance and business-support responsibilities assigned by management.
Technical Skills
Understanding of accounting and financial controls. Strong proficiency in MS Excel / Google Sheets. Experience in financial MIS, dashboards and data analysis. Working knowledge of ERP/accounting systems. Understanding of GST, TDS and other relevant statutory requirements. Ability to Analise P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow and operational financial metrics. Exposure to automation, dashboarding or financial analytics will be an advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as CA / CMA / ACCA / CPA or partly qualified candidates would be an advantage.
- 6–10 years of relevant experience in Finance & Accounts, preferably within the hospitality, hotels, F&B;, retail, real estate or multi-unit business environment.
- Experience in budgeting, financial controls, MIS, cash flow, audit, costing and management reporting.
- Exposure to multi-property or multi-business-unit finance operations would be preferred.

Competitive and based on experience
Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹85,000.00 per month
