Production Support Specialist – Sparrow Switch & Card Payments Job Details

- Preferred locations: Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai, in order of preference.

- Primary skills: Linux, databases, Sparrow Switch, card payments, and production support.

- Secondary skills: SDLC, banking operations, ticketing tools, and ServiceNow.

- Role type: Techno-functional production support.

Role Summary

We are seeking a techno-functional Production Support Specialist with solid expertise in the Sparrow Switch application, card payment systems, ATM and POS environments, and Unix/Linux shell scripting. The role is responsible for supporting business-critical payment applications, resolving production incidents, coordinating with external vendors and payment networks, and ensuring reliable service delivery within defined timelines.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide production support for the Sparrow Switch application and related payment systems.

- Monitor, investigate, and resolve incidents and problems in the production environment.

- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Unix/Linux shell scripts.

- Support ATM and POS terminal-related applications and transaction flows.

- Perform certification activities with Visa, MasterCard, and UPI.

- Support scheme installation and configuration activities.

- Analyze ISO 8583 messages, switch internal message formats, and terminal message formats.

- Use interchange simulators for Visa, MasterCard, and UPI transaction testing.

- Follow incident and problem management processes, including appropriate escalation and notification procedures.

- Work to defined deadlines and escalate risks, failures, or delays promptly.





- Prepare and maintain technical documentation in line with applicable standards, guidelines, and best practices.

- Coordinate with CR2, Visa, MasterCard, other banks, vendors, and internal teams.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

- Robust hands-on knowledge of the Sparrow Switch application.

- Strong experience in Unix/Linux shell scripting.

- Experience supporting card payment systems and payment-domain applications.

- Expert knowledge of ISO 8583 and switch internal message formats.

- Experience with interchange simulators for Visa, MasterCard, and UPI.

- Expertise in certification processes with Visa, MasterCard, and UPI.

- Expert knowledge of payment scheme installation activities.

- Strong understanding of SDLC and production support practices.

- Experience in incident and problem management.

- Ability to diagnose and resolve production issues quickly and effectively.

- Working knowledge of databases, banking systems, and ticketing tools.

Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of ATM and POS terminals.

- Experience with POS tools and terminal management systems.

- Ability to decode terminal message formats.

- Understanding of Hardware Security Module and A98 server application concepts.

- Knowledge of the CardWorld Producer application on Windows Server 2008 and 2012.

- Knowledge of BWAC application software for ATM connectivity with the Sparrow application.





- Experience with CR2 products, including Studio and ATM branding tools.

- Familiarity with technical documentation standards, guidelines, and best practices.
