Position Summary

- Job Title: Assistant Safety Officer
- Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

- Compensation: Negotiable (Based on experience and skill set)

Job Purpose: The Assistant Safety Officer will play a critical role in supporting the HSE department to ensure a safe, hazard-free, and compliant manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, vigilant, and responsible for enforcing safety protocols, identifying workplace hazards, and driving a zero-accident culture across the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

- Safety Audits & Inspections: Conduct routine daily floor inspections across manufacturing units to ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines and the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Hazard Identification & Control: Proactively identify potential workplace hazards, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions, implementing immediate corrective actions.
- Incident Reporting: Assist the Chief Safety Officer in investigating workplace accidents, injuries, or near-miss incidents, and compiling detailed reports with preventative recommendations.
- Training & Awareness: Deliver daily tool-box talks to workers, and assist in conducting safety induction and specialized training programs for internal employees and third-party contractors.
- Emergency Preparedness:



Regularly monitor and inspect the operational readiness of firefighting systems, hydrants, extinguishers, emergency exits, and safety alarms.
- Compliance Documentation: Maintain up-to-date and organized HSE records, including accident registers, safety checklists, and Permit-to-Work (PTW) logs.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

- Education: Minimum Graduation with a Degree or Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized university or institute.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a safety professional within a manufacturing plant, factory, or textile mill workplace.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial hazard protocols, firefighting operations, and familiarity with the Factories Act and state statutory compliance laws.
- Core Competencies: High level of alertness, strong attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively train workers and collaborate across departments.
- Geographic Preference: Preference will be given to candidates residing in or near Bhadreswar / Hooghly district.
