What if your work could change the way a young person sees their future?
At 15–18, young people are figuring out a lot at once.
Who am I?
What am I positive at?
What do I want to do with my life?
How do I deal with my emotions, relationships, studies and expectations?
Sometimes, what they need isn't another person telling them what to do.
They need someone who will listen, ask the right questions, create a safe space, and help them discover their own answers.
That is where Lighthouse Kiran comes in.
And that's where you come in.
About Lighthouse Kiran
Lighthouse Kiran is a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program for young people aged 15–18.
We create spaces where adolescents can:
- Feel safe, heard and valued
- Build social and emotional skills
- Understand their strengths, emotions and aspirations
- Develop confidence and agency
- Make informed decisions about education and careers
- Explore future livelihood pathways
- Strengthen their connection with education
- Stay engaged in their learning journey
Our belief is simple:
Young people don't need to be told what their future should look like. They need the skills, confidence and support to shape it themselves..
The Role: Facilitator & Counsellor
You won't just be conducting sessions.
You'll be a facilitator, counsellor, mentor, listener and trusted adult in a young person's journey.
You will work with adolescents in colleges or designated Lighthouse Connect Centres across PCMC, creating meaningful spaces for learning, reflection and growth.
Some days you'll lead a lively group discussion.
Some days you'll help a student make sense of something they're struggling with.
Some days, the most important thing you'll do may simply be listen.
What You'll DoFacilitate. Engage. Transform.
- Facilitate the Lighthouse Kiran program for new batches of students.
- Conduct engaging sessions on Social-Emotional Learning, life skills, soft skills, self-awareness and personal development.
- Facilitate groups of approximately 25–30 students.
- Create an inclusive, safe and energising learning environment.
- Encourage participation and meaningful conversations.
- Support students to complete the program and maintain strong attendance.
Be a Trusted Guide
- Build genuine relationships with adolescents.
- Provide appropriate counselling and guidance based on individual needs.
- Help students explore their interests, strengths, aspirations and career possibilities.
- Support young people in making informed education and career decisions.
- Identify when a student may need additional support and collaborate with the wider team appropriately.
Build Agency, Not Dependence
The goal isn't to make decisions for young people.
It's to help them become better decision-makers.
You will:
- Encourage self-reflection and independent thinking.
- Help students recognise their strengths and growth areas.
- Encourage ownership of their learning and future.
- Use facilitation as a tool for self-discovery and transformation—not simply content delivery.
Take Learning Beyond the Classroom
- Encourage students to actively use the Social and Emotional Learning Chatbot.
- Help students practise and apply SEL skills in their everyday lives.
- Connect classroom learning with real-life situations.
Measure the Journey
- Conduct baseline and endline assessments.
- Track changes in key competencies.
- Use insights from assessments to strengthen your facilitation.
- Maintain accurate student and program records.
Be Part of the Team
- Collaborate with colleagues to support students and program outcomes.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive and youth-centred culture.
- Take on additional responsibilities when required.
