Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Provide first-line operational monitoring and support across the assigned relational and NoSQL database platforms. Perform scheduled health checks covering database availability, connectivity, storage, backups, scheduled jobs, logs and replication status. Acknowledge and triage database incidents, execute approved L1 troubleshooting steps and maintain accurate ServiceNow updates within agreed service levels. Fulfil standard requests such as status checks, approved access activities, password resets, log collection, connectivity validation and execution of authorized scripts. Monitor backup completion, identify failures, capture error details and escalate backup-chain, retention, capacity or recoverability risks. Monitor high-availability and replication configurations and escalate synchronization, latency, listener, replica or service-health issues. Support planned changes by completing pre-checks, post-change health validation and evidence capture under L2 guidance. Maintain shift handovers, operational dashboards, SOPs, runbooks, knowledge articles and inventory records. Coordinate with application, cloud, Windows/Linux, network, storage, backup and security teams for dependency-related incidents. Participate in major incident bridges by providing factual database-health updates and completing diagnostic actions assigned by L2/L3. Database Technology Coverage Microsoft SQL Server First-line operational support for SQL Server instances hosted on-premises or on cloud infrastructure. Operational responsibilities Monitor SQL Server services, instance and database availability, SQL Server Agent jobs, error logs, connectivity, database-file growth and transaction-log utilization. Validate full, differential and transaction-log backup completion and capture failure details for escalation. Monitor Always On Availability Groups, replica synchronization, listeners,
Log Shipping and Replication using approved tools and scripts. Use SQL Server Management Studio and basic T-SQL queries to check database state, sessions, blocking, jobs and backup status. Escalate corruption alerts, repeated job failures, severe blocking, backup-chain gaps, capacity risk and availability-group issues. Expected working knowledge: SQL Server services and databases, SSMS, SQL Server Agent, backup and recovery models, MDF/NDF/LDF files, Always On monitoring, Log Shipping, Replication, basic T-SQL. Azure Cosmos DB Operational monitoring of Azure Cosmos DB accounts and workloads without requiring L1 ownership of data-model or partition design. Operational responsibilities Monitor account and regional availability, Azure service-health notifications, request failures, latency, storage and configured alerts. Review request-unit consumption and throttling indicators and capture the affected account, database, container and time window. Validate connectivity and access-related incidents using approved procedures and coordinate with cloud, network and application teams. Monitor backup configuration and platform status where exposed through approved dashboards. Escalate sustained throttling, partition-related concerns, indexing-policy issues, consistency changes, regional incidents and capacity design matters. Expected working knowledge: Cosmos DB accounts, databases and containers, RU/s and throttling, partition-key awareness, geo-replication awareness, Azure Portal, Azure Monitor, basic connectivity and access checks. Oracle Database First-line operational support for Oracle database services and availability components. Operational responsibilities Monitor database and instance availability, listener status, alert logs, tablespace usage, archive destinations and scheduled jobs. Validate RMAN backup completion and collect job logs and error details for failed or delayed backups.
