Associate Engineer - Mechanical Design
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare 3D CAD models, 2D fabrication drawings, GA drawings and BOMs for reactor components, skids, piping and supports under the guidance of senior engineers
• Perform basic engineering calculations (pressure drop, heat load, wall thickness, flow) and maintain design records
• Support the build, assembly and installation of reactor systems, piping, fittings and associated equipment on the shop floor
• Coordinate with vendors and fabricators on drawings, quotes, material availability and delivery; follow up on purchase orders
• Carry out incoming material and fabrication inspections, and support pressure testing, leak testing and commissioning activities
• Support routine and breakdown maintenance of reactor systems and utilities to maximize uptime
• Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and record observations, root causes and corrective actions
• Maintain engineering documentation, drawing revisions, inspection reports and test records on the shared drive
• Work with the Electronics team on installation and checks of instruments, sensors, heaters and control panels
• Follow all EHS procedures, including safe handling of pressurized and hazardous gasses, permit-to-work and lockout/tag out; participate in safety reviews
• Maintain spares and consumables inventory for engineering and raise requirements in time
• Communicate clearly and work well with colleagues, technicians, vendors and all levels of the organization
• Travel to local vendor and fabricator sites may be required
Requirements
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline)
• 2 to 3 years of experience in mechanical design, fabrication, maintenance or plant engineering; fresh graduates with strong hands-on project or internship experience are welcome to apply
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (Solid Works, Auto desk Inventor or similar) and AutoCAD
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs; and fabrication specifications
• Basic understanding of piping, fittings, valves, heat transfer and pressure equipment
• Hands-on experience with fabrication, assembly, tools and workshop practices
• Exposure to high-temperature or pressurized systems, gas handling, or process plant environments is a plus
• Familiarity with ASME codes, GD&T; or FEA is a plus
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
• Willingness to learn, take ownership and work in a fast-paced start-up setting
• Good verbal and written communication skills
