bp technology is the central organization for all software and platform development. We build all the technology that powers bp’s businesses, from upstream energy production to downstream energy delivery to our customers. We have a variety of teams depending on your areas of interest, including infrastructure and backend services through to customer-facing web and native applications. Let me tell you about the role
The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for engineering, enhancing, and operating bp’s AWS Platform, ensuring it remains secure, reliable, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with bp’s cloud strategy.
Working as a senior member of the AWS Platform Engineering team,
this role delivers the technical capabilities that enable application teams across bp to consume AWS safely and efficiently. The role focuses on building reusable platform capabilities, improving existing services, removing technical debt, and continuously modernising the platform to take advantage of evolving AWS capabilities.
The Senior Cloud Engineer works closely with the AWS Platform Architect, Technical Delivery Lead, Platform Engineering teams, and peer technology services to translate architectural direction into practical, production-ready engineering outcomes.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring deep AWS expertise, robust software engineering practices, and the ability to solve complex technical challenges across the breadth of the AWS platform. The role does not have line management responsibility but provides technical leadership, mentoring, and engineering expertise within the squad.
