Job Title: Lead Specialist – Advocacy and Network Development
Location: Delhi or Ahmedabad (with occasional travel across India)
Job Type: Full-time (Renewable two-year contract)
Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
About Us Sense International India (Sense India) is the first and only NGO dedicated to supporting comprehensive services for people with deafblindness and multiple disabilities throughout India. We work in partnership with persons with deafblindness, their families, and professionals to ensure equal access to advice, opportunities, and support.
The Role We are seeking a strategic Lead Specialist to manage and coordinate our Advocacy and Networks Development initiatives. You will play a crucial role in advocating for disability rights, expanding self-help groups ('Networks'), and engaging with government and policy stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate strategic priorities into annual plans, budgets, and actionable goals for the Advocacy and Network Development team.
- Engage with central/state government departments, NGOs, and disability organisations to influence mainstream policies and systems.
- Strengthen and expand self-help Networks to promote the leadership and meaningful participation of people with deafblindness.
- Oversee monitoring, documentation, and reporting for donor and management requirements.
- Guide the preparation of advocacy briefs, policy submissions, concept notes,
and research products to drive disability inclusion.
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification in Social Sciences, Social Work, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in advocacy, disability rights, development, or program management.
- Proven experience collaborating with government departments, development organisations, and stakeholder platforms.
- Solid understanding of disability legislation, policies, and inclusive rights in India.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and strategic planning skills.
- Willingness to travel to direct centres, partner organisations, and network locations across India as needed.
