# Job Description
## ITI Electrician & Machine Maintenance Technician

**Qualification:** ITI Electrician
**Experience:** 1–3 years preferred. Freshers with good practical knowledge may also be considered.
### Job Purpose
We are looking for a practical and hands-on **ITI Electrician** who can handle factory electrical maintenance and also assist in **basic machine repair and mechanical maintenance**.
The person will be responsible for attending electrical breakdowns, preventive maintenance, machine wiring, motors and control-panel related issues, and basic repair of production machinery.
### Key Responsibilities
#### Electrical Maintenance
- Attend day-to-day electrical breakdowns in factory machines.
- Troubleshoot single-phase and three-phase electrical faults.
- Check and repair motors, switches, contactors, relays, overloads, timers and starters.
- Carry out machine wiring, cable replacement and terminal connections.
- Check sensors, limit switches, proximity sensors and basic control components.
- Maintain electrical panels and ensure connections are tight and safe.
- Check heating elements, temperature controllers and related electrical systems.
- Maintain factory lights, switches, sockets and utility electrical connections.
- Assist in installation and shifting of machines.
#### Basic Machine Repair
Candidate should also be willing and able to handle basic mechanical maintenance such as:
- Changing bearings.
- Replacing belts, chains and pulleys.
- Tightening and adjusting machine components.
- Basic motor and gearbox fitting.
- Replacing switches, sensors and small machine components.
- Lubrication and routine machine servicing.
- Identifying abnormal noise, vibration or overheating.
- Assisting in alignment and basic fitting work.
- Helping maintenance team during machine breakdowns.
#### Motors & Control Systems
- Check motors for overheating, abnormal noise and electrical faults.
- Work with DOL and star-delta starters.
- Basic understanding of VFD-controlled motors preferred.
- Identify faulty contactors, relays, MCBs and overload relays.
- Basic knowledge of control-panel troubleshooting.
PLC programming is not compulsory, but basic understanding of PLC-operated machines will be an advantage.
#### Preventive Maintenance
- Follow daily, weekly and monthly maintenance schedule.
- Check machine wiring and electrical connections.
- Inspect motors and panels.
- Check for loose connections and overheating.
- Perform lubrication and basic mechanical checks.
- Identify parts likely to fail before breakdown.
- Inform management about required spare parts in advance.
#### Breakdown Support
During machine breakdown:
1. Identify whether the problem is electrical or mechanical.
2. Attend simple electrical and mechanical faults independently.
3. Coordinate with senior maintenance staff for major repairs.
4. Test the machine after repair.
5. Ensure the machine is safe before handing it back to production.
### Basic Skills Required
Candidate should have practical knowledge of:
- Electrical wiring
- Three-phase motors
- Control panels
- Contactors and relays
- MCB and overload protection
- Sensors and switches
- Multimeter and clamp meter
- Motor starters
- Cable termination
- Basic mechanical fitting
- Bearing replacement
- Belt and pulley replacement
- Basic machine troubleshooting
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic machines will be an advantage.
### Machines the Candidate May Work On
Depending on factory requirements, the candidate may work on:
- Hydraulic press machines
- Cutting and punching machines
- Conveyor systems
- Heating and drying machines
- Motors and gearboxes
- Compressors
- Blowers
- Pumps
- Grinding and buffing machines
- Stitching and other production machines
### Safety Responsibilities
- Follow proper electrical isolation before working on machines.
- Use appropriate PPE and testing instruments.
- Ensure proper earthing.
- Never bypass machine safety switches or protective devices.
- Keep panels properly closed after work.
- Report unsafe electrical conditions immediately.
### Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Is hands-on and comfortable working on machines.
- Does not restrict himself only to electrical work.
- Is willing to learn basic mechanical repair.
- Can identify faults systematically.
- Responds quickly during machine breakdowns.
- Can work independently on routine problems.
- Is willing to learn new machines and equipment.
- Maintains tools and spare parts properly.
### Qualification
**ITI Electrician is preferred.**
Candidates with practical factory electrical-maintenance experience will be given preference.
### Experience
**1–3 years preferred.**
Freshers with strong practical knowledge of electrical maintenance and interest in machine repair may also apply.
### Selection Test
Shortlisted candidates may be given a simple practical test covering:
- Identifying electrical-panel components.
- Checking motor connections.
- Using a multimeter and clamp meter.
- Finding a easy electrical fault.
- Identifying bearing, belt or pulley related machine problems.
- Explaining basic machine breakdown troubleshooting.
### Key Performance Indicators
Performance will be evaluated based on:
- Machine downtime.
- Breakdown response time.
- Repeat breakdown frequency.
- Preventive maintenance completion.
- Electrical safety.
- Quality of repairs.
- Ability to handle basic mechanical work.
- Proper maintenance of tools and spare parts.
### Role Objective
The objective of this position is to have a reliable factory maintenance person who can handle:
**Electrical Fault + Basic Machine Repair + Preventive Maintenance + Production Support**
and help keep factory machines running with minimum downtime.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
