Kalike is operating at Karnataka and Tamil Nadu state. Kalike Trust, an associate organization of Tata Trusts, has been working in North Karnataka since 2009. The pulse of our vision is to ensure holistic development and sustainable transformation that spans wide ranging areas of rural development and enterprise. Our interventions employ an integrated approach encompassing education, health, and livelihoods, with the intention of positively impacting overall human development. Kalike implements the Titan Kanya Sampoorna project & Titan Kanya Girls Education Program in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu with the funding of Titan company limited. The project encompasses a variety of interventions strategically placed throughout different life stages that allow the girl child to flourish. The interventions work in tandem with existing programs, bringing a special focus to the unique needs and challenges faced by girls.

Committed to educational initiatives, our organization has a proven track record of collaborating with the school education department. We have spearheaded comprehensive programs focusing on education, STEM Interventions, career guidance, and life skills for students and communities in Cuddalore & Tiruvannamalai Districts of Tamil Nadu.

Key purpose of the role:

The Technical Officer – Life Skills will provide technical leadership for the planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Life Skills, Career Guidance, and Functional English interventions under the Titan Kanya Girls Education Program. The role focuses on strengthening life skills competencies, career readiness, communication, decision-making and Functional English proficiency among adolescent girls aged 11–18 years.

The Technical Officer will provide technical supervision and mentoring to Cluster Coordinators, who will, in turn, support and supervise Program Coordinators in implementing programme activities across intervention schools. The incumbent will lead curriculum development, capacity building, quality assurance, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement to ensure effective programme implementation and improved learning outcomes.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Program Development and Implementation:

· Provide technical leadership for planning and implementing Life Skills, Career Guidance, and Functional English interventions across project schools.

· Develop and contextualize curriculum, facilitator guides, session plans, teaching-learning materials, and activity-based methodologies aligned with programme objectives and Government of Tamil Nadu initiatives.

· Design structured modules on Life Skills, Career Guidance, leadership, social-emotional learning, communication skills, and Functional English based on approved programme manuals.

· Provide technical supervision and mentoring to Cluster Coordinators to ensure effective implementation of programme activities across their respective clusters.

· Develop strategies to strengthen students' Functional English proficiency through activity-based and remedial learning approaches.

· Support Cluster Coordinators in setting implementation targets and ensuring timely completion of planned programme activities.

· Promote experiential learning through student clubs, leadership activities, career guidance programmes, English-speaking activities, competitions, campaigns, exposure visits, and other school-based initiatives.

· Support schools in creating safe, inclusive, gender-responsive, and child-friendly learning environments.

Capacity Building and Training:

· Design and facilitate capacity-building programmes for Cluster Coordinators, Program Coordinators, teachers, and other stakeholders.

· Mentor Cluster Coordinators to strengthen their competencies in technical implementation, facilitation, mentoring, reporting, monitoring, and quality management.





· Build the capacity of Cluster Coordinators to effectively coach and supervise Program Coordinators.

· Design and conduct training programmes on Life Skills, Career Guidance, Functional English facilitation, classroom engagement, and experiential learning methodologies.

· Develop facilitator manuals, mentoring plans, technical reference materials, and training resources.

· Organize technical training programmes in collaboration with government departments, educational institutions, and external resource persons.

· Promote continuous professional development through refresher trainings, peer learning, exposure visits, and communities of practice.

Content Development and Curriculum Enhancement:

· Develop, review, and continuously improve Life Skills, Career Guidance, and Functional English curriculum, training materials, activity manuals, facilitator guides, and student workbooks.

· Design engaging classroom activities, experiential learning exercises, leadership activities, assessments, and reflection tools.

· Develop Functional English teaching-learning materials focusing on listening, speaking, reading, vocabulary development, and practical communication skills.

· Create innovative digital and print-based learning resources to strengthen programme implementation.

· Research and adapt national and international best practices in Life Skills and Functional English education suitable for the local context.

· Ensure all learning materials are age-appropriate, gender-sensitive, inclusive, and aligned with programme objectives.

Onsite Technical Support and Quality Assurance:

· Conduct regular field visits to schools to monitor programme implementation and provide technical guidance.

· Organize periodic review meetings with Cluster Coordinators to assess programme progress, identify implementation gaps, and develop corrective action plans.

· Observe Life Skills and Functional English sessions and provide constructive feedback to improve facilitation quality.

· Support Cluster Coordinators in mentoring Program Coordinators and strengthening programme implementation.

· Monitor the quality of Functional English remedial support provided to students and recommend strategies for improving learning outcomes.

· Develop and utilize quality monitoring tools, observation formats, and implementation checklists.

· Support Cluster Coordinators in organizing career guidance programmes, exposure visits, leadership initiatives, and student development activities.

· Strengthen programme quality through supportive supervision, coaching, and evidence-based improvements.

· Promote child safeguarding and ensure programme implementation adheres to organizational policies and quality standards.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Management:

· Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with Government departments, educational institutions, higher education institutions, industries, English language resource organizations, NGOs, and other stakeholders to strengthen programme implementation.

· Collaborate with teachers, parents, School Management Committees, and community stakeholders to promote Life Skills, Career Guidance, and Functional English learning among adolescent girls.

· Facilitate orientation programmes, review meetings, and multi-stakeholder forums to strengthen programme ownership and sustainability.

· Represent the project in technical meetings, workshops, seminars, and review forums related to Life Skills, Career Guidance, and education.

Budget Planning and Resource Management:

· Support the Program Manager in preparing annual budgets for Life Skills, Career Guidance, and Functional English interventions.

· Monitor programme expenditures and ensure effective utilization of financial and material resources.

· Recommend procurement of training materials, educational resources,



and programme supplies based on implementation needs.

· Promote cost-effective implementation while maintaining programme quality and impact.

Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation:

- Develop monitoring frameworks, programme indicators, and quality standards for Life Skills, Career Guidance, and Functional English interventions.
- Review reports submitted by Cluster Coordinators and provide technical feedback to strengthen programme quality.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual technical reports on programme implementation, achievements, challenges, and outcomes.
- Track programme indicators related to life skills competencies, career readiness, Functional English proficiency, communication skills, student participation, confidence, leadership, and behavioural change.
- Document best practices, innovations, case studies, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Support process documentation, photography, donor reporting, and knowledge management activities.

Team Leadership:

· Provide technical supervision and mentoring to Cluster Coordinators to ensure effective programme implementation.

· Conduct regular review meetings with Cluster Coordinators to monitor progress, identify challenges, and strengthen programme quality.

· Support Cluster Coordinators in mentoring and supervising Program Coordinators.

· Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and capacity building of Cluster Coordinators and Program Coordinators.

· Foster a collaborative learning culture that promotes innovation, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Other Responsibilities:

· Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the Program Manager or the organization from time to time.

· Contribute to documenting and disseminating programme achievements through reports, publications, presentations, workshops, seminars, the Kalike website, annual reports, and other communication platforms.

· Ensure compliance with organizational policies, child safeguarding standards, donor requirements, and Government guidelines.

· Support emergency response activities as part of the organization's emergency preparedness and response mechanism, whenever required.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

Requirements

Education

Master’s Degree in English, Communicative/Functional English, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Guidance and Counselling, Development Studies. Candidates from any other streams, having required previous experience in the life skills sector are also encouraged to apply.

Experience

5+ years’ experience in Life Skills, Career Guidance, Spoken / Communicative English and other relevant sector. Proven experience in designing and executing programs related to Life Skills, Social-Emotional Learning, Career Guidance, Functional English for adolescent youth.

Technical Skills

· Demonstrated capability in curriculum design, content development, training of trainers (ToT), and classroom pedagogy.

· Team leadership, mentoring, and supportive supervision skills.

· Strong understanding of gender equality, adolescent education, life skills and career guidance.

· Excellent report writing, analytical, and process documentation abilities.

· Strong interpersonal communication and stakeholder management capabilities

· Deep commitment to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement.

· Advanced knowledge of quantitative/qualitative report writing skills, documentation, budget oversight

Language

Fluency in Tamil and English (oral and written) is required.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PPT, Excel, Outlook) and other tools for the digital documentation. Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, MS Office especially Excel, Designing software like Canva and other tools.

Compensation

Annual remuneration ranging from INR 6 LPA to INR 7 LPA, inclusive of applicable taxes, and other staff perks, commensurate with qualifications and experience (negotiable).
