Company Description Magic Bus India Foundation, founded in 1999, works to help young people break out of poverty and lead fulfilling, rewarding lives while contributing positively to their communities. The organization focuses on enabling adolescents to complete secondary education and preparing youth for sustainable employment through skills training and job placements. Through its Childhood to Livelihood approach, Magic Bus engages young people aged 12 to 24 years across India, reaching over 1 million youth in 24 states and 75 districts. The foundation operates Community Learning Centres, Livelihood Centres, and Entrepreneurship Incubation Centres to provide life skills, education support, employability training, and mentoring for aspiring entrepreneurs. Magic Bus continues to expand its impact and partnerships to strengthen pathways from education to meaningful livelihoods for underserved communities.
Role Description The Director will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Magic Bus India Foundation's programmes and initiatives based out of Hyderabad in a full-time, on-site capacity. This role will lead planning, implementation, and monitoring of key programmes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals around education, life skills, livelihoods, and entrepreneurship. The Director will manage senior staff, build and strengthen partnerships with donors, government agencies, and community stakeholders, and ensure effective governance and compliance with organizational policies. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing programme performance,
guiding resource allocation and budgeting, overseeing impact measurement and reporting, and driving continuous improvement across centres and field operations. The Director will also represent Magic Bus in external forums, advocate for youth development and employability, and support fundraising and communication efforts to sustain and scale the organization's work.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including team leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in program design, implementation, and monitoring within the social sector, education, skills development, or livelihoods.
- Strong financial and operational management capabilities, including budgeting, resource planning, and compliance oversight.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse internal and external partners.
- Proven ability to use data and impact metrics for decision-making, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Understanding of youth development, employability, and community-based interventions in the Indian context.
- Master's degree in social sciences, development studies, management, education, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of advanced qualifications.
- Prior experience in a senior leadership role within a nonprofit, foundation, or mission-driven organization, preferably working across multiple locations.
- Comfort with in office leadership in Hyderabad, including regular visits to centres, schools, and field locations.
