Job Description for Engineer - DVT tester
Job Description:
Work with a US-based team to expand device communication capabilities. The Firmware Test Engineer will be embedded within the firmware development team and responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of Vertiv’s communication card products through comprehensive firmware testing—primarily black-box, with clear-box (white-box) testing as needed—and DVT (Design Verification Testing) validation. The role will work directly with hardware and product management teams to validate new features, conduct regression testing, support test automation and improve product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Firmware Validation & Testing
• Develop and execute test plans, test cases and test scenarios for communication card products firmware releases.
• Perform functional, integration and acceptance testing, primarily from a black-box perspective and applying clear-box (white-box) techniques when diagnosing defects alongside developers.
• Validate current feature implementations, enhancements and bug fixes.
• Verify firmware functionality across supported hardware platforms and configurations.
DVT (Design Verification Testing)
• Execute Design Verification Testing (DVT) for new hardware and firmware releases.
• Validate firmware interaction with hardware components, sensors, communication interfaces and peripherals.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks such as Pytest or Robot Framework
• Perform performance and reliability testing.
• Identify, reproduce and document defects found during DVT cycles.
• Support hardware bring-up and pre-production validation activities.
Defect Management
• Log, track, reproduce and verify software defects.
• Collaborate with firmware developers to analyze root causes and validate fixes.
• Participate in defect triage and release readiness reviews.
• Ensure timely closure of critical and high-priority issues.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
