About the Role
Bhumi's Schools of Excellence Program strengthens holistic student development in select government schools
through structured Sports, Arts, and Co-Curricular programming. This role sits at the intersection of program
design, government liaison, and data-driven program management, working closely with government officials,
school leadership, and coaching/facilitation partners to build a model that enables excellence in student
participation, skill-building, and achievement beyond the classroom.
We're looking for a generalist with genuine interest and some experience in the sports and/or arts space —
someone who understands how school-level sports, arts, and co-curricular programs work, can speak the
language of coaches and instructors, and can translate that understanding into a program that works at scale in
a government school system. You don't need to have competed or performed at a high level yourself; what
matters is a real interest in this space and the ability to design and manage a program around it.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
- Government & Institutional Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as Bhumi's primary point of coordination with
HMs, DEOs, Physical Education/Arts faculty, and coaching or facilitation partners. Build and sustain
relationships that keep the program credible.
- Sports/Arts & Co-Curricular Program Design & Oversight: Design and refine the coaching/facilitation
model — content structure, session pacing, and coach/mentor inputs — drawing on interest, exposure, or
experience in sports and/or arts to keep the model realistic and effective for government-school students.
- Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring: Track student participation, attendance, and skill/performance
progression across schools and disciplines (sports, arts,
other co-curricular activities). Build simple, usable
dashboards/reports that help identify what's working and course-correct quickly.
- Coaching Quality Assurance & Capacity Building: Monitor the quality of coaching/facilitation delivery
across partner schools. Work with coaches, instructors, or teachers to close gaps and maintain consistency
across sites and disciplines.
- Reporting & Cross-Team Coordination: Prepare periodic updates for leadership.
Preferred
- A genuine interest in sports and/or the arts, along with some exposure to this space — as a participant,
volunteer, organiser, instructor, or through prior work/project experience, OR
- Prior experience designing, managing, or coordinating a sports, arts, or co-curricular program or event,
even in a generalist capacity.
- A reasonable working understanding of how school-level sports/arts ecosystems function (e.g., school and
district tournaments, annual days, exhibitions, co-curricular requirements) — you don't need to be a
domain expert, but you should be comfortable learning and engaging with this world.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, ideally with exposure to government or institutional environments.
- Comfort working with data, building trackers, reading performance trends, and translating numbers into
decisions (Excel/Sheets fluency expected).
Other Requirements
- Based in Chennai; willing to work out of the DPI office as the primary base, with travel to partner schools.
- Comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving, early-stage program.
Other Information
- Scope: Full time Consultant
- Reporting to: Assistant Manager, Schools of Excellence
- Remuneration: Rs. 4,50,000 – 6,00,000, negotiable based on the candidate's profile
- Expected Joining Date: Immediate
- Location: Chennai
