Position Overview
The Team Lead – UK Charity Accounts is responsible for reviewing charity statutory accounts under FRS (SORP), supporting independent examinations, and managing fund accounting, disclosures, and compliance with Charity Commission requirements. The role includes preparation of SOFA, balance sheet, notes, working papers, and handling client communication. Solid understanding of restricted/unrestricted funds, SORP disclosures, and charity reporting frameworks is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Year-End Accounts Preparation
- Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with:
- Charities SORP (FRS 102)
- Companies Act requirements where applicable
- CIO reporting requirements where applicable
- Complete our charity accounts production spreadsheet and supporting schedules.
- Ensure all disclosures are complete and consistent with the underlying records.
- Produce a final draft accounts file for review by Hilton Jones Ltd.
Working Papers
Prepare a comprehensive working papers file including:
- Bank reconciliations
- Fixed asset schedules
- Accruals and prepayments schedules
- Debtors and creditors analysis
- Deferred income schedules
- Payroll reconciliations
- Pension reconciliations where applicable
- Control account reconciliations
- Other balance sheet support as required
All balance sheet items should be fully supported and reconciled.
Fund Accounting
A key requirement of the role is a good understanding of charity fund accounting.
You will be expected to:
- Analyse income and expenditure by fund.
- Distinguish between:
- Unrestricted funds
- Restricted funds
- Designated funds (where applicable)
- Prepare fund reconciliation schedules.
- Analyse grant income and expenditure by individual funder or project.
- Ensure fund balances reconcile to the statutory accounts.
Client Communication
- Communicate directly with clients by email where information or clarification is required.
- Hilton Jones Ltd must be copied into all client correspondence.
- Maintain a professional and courteous approach at all times.
- Escalate technical or complex matters to Hilton Jones Ltd promptly.
•5 Years of Experience
•Strong knowledge of Charity SORP and IE requirements
•Experience in charity accounts preparation / independent examination support
•Understanding of fund accounting (restricted/unrestricted funds
•Familiarity with Charity Commission reporting requirements

12:30 PM to 10:00 PM IST (Indian Summers)
01:30 PM to 11:00 PM IST (Indian Winters)
