Description
We are seeking a Marine Modelling Engineer to support WSP Denmark's Marine Team in delivering marine, coastal, and offshore infrastructure projects. The role involves advanced numerical modelling, marine environmental assessments, and technical reporting for projects such as offshore wind farms, submarine cables, pipelines, ports, harbours, and marine outfalls.
The successful candidate will work closely with marine specialists in Denmark and contribute to technically challenging projects using industry-standard modelling software including MIKE 21, MIKE 3, IWRAP, and dBSea.
Responsibilities
Marine Numerical Modelling
- Develop, run, calibrate, and validate numerical models using:
- MIKE 21
- MIKE 3
- MIKE Zero
- Perform modelling related to:
- Hydrodynamics (HD Module)
- Sediment Transport and Dispersion (MT/PT Modules)
- Advection and Dispersion (AD Module)
- Wave Modelling (SW Module)
- Water Quality Modelling
- Nutrient and Bacteria Modelling (EcoLab Module)
Marine Environmental Assessment
- Conduct marine impact assessments related to:
- Offshore wind developments
- Subsea cable installations
- Pipeline projects
- Port and harbour developments
- Outfall dispersion studies
- Coastal engineering projects
Marine Risk and Navigation Studies
- Undertake ship collision risk assessments using IWRAP.
- Support navigation safety studies.
- Analyse vessel movement and marine traffic data.
Underwater Noise Assessment
- Perform underwater noise modelling using dBSea.
- Support marine environmental impact studies.
- Assess construction and operational noise impacts on sensitive marine receptors.
Data Processing and GIS
- Process and analyse:
- Bathymetry datasets
- Wind and meteorological data
- Water level and tidal datasets
- Current and wave measurements
- Marine environmental monitoring data
- Develop:
- GIS-based maps
- Contour and velocity plots
- Sediment dispersion maps
- Impact assessment figures
Technical Reporting
- Prepare high-quality technical reports documenting:
- Model setup
- Input assumptions
- Data sources
- Calibration and validation
- Results and conclusions
- Maintain complete traceability and documentation of modelling workflows.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in:
- Civil Engineering
- Coastal Engineering
- Ocean Engineering
- Marine Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Water Resources Engineering
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred 10+ years of experience in marine and coastal modelling.
- Experience on international marine projects is highly desirable.

Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in MIKE 21 and MIKE 3 modelling, experience in marine hydrodynamics, sediment transport, water quality, and offshore infrastructure projects, and the ability to independently deliver modelling assignments for WSP Denmark's growing marine portfolio.
