Operations Drone Technician (Field Operations)

Location: Field-based, across India

Experience: 1 to 4 years preferred, freshers considered

Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for a Drone Technician (Field Operations) to support our growing agricultural drone operations. You will be responsible for on-site troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, integration, testing, team technical support and inventory management for drones and their subsystems.

You will work closely with Drone Pilots, Co-Pilots, Supervisors and Operations Managers to keep drones available, resolve issues quickly and keep daily spray operations running smoothly across your assigned clusters.

You will own cluster-level technical readiness, making sure the assigned drones, batteries, tools, spare parts and maintenance systems are ready to deliver maximum drone uptime and uninterrupted spray operations.

Key Responsibilities Field Troubleshooting and Repair

- Diagnose and resolve reported electrical, mechanical, electronics, propulsion, battery and spray-system issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair drones at operational hubs, customer sites and agricultural fields.
- Identify the root causes of technical failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Carry out component replacement, repair, adjustment and functional verification.
- Escalate complex issues to the central technical / R&D; team with the right technical information.
- Minimise drone downtime and restore field-ready systems quickly.

Drone Testing and Operational Readiness
- Carry out post-repair and pre-deployment testing of drones.
- Perform functional checks of propulsion, flight electronics, GPS, communication, battery and spray systems.
- Conduct controlled test flights after major repairs or component replacements.
- Verify drone performance before handing the system back to the Pilot or Operations team.
- Support testing and validation of new components, software, configurations and drone systems.
- Maintain testing records and report abnormal performance or recurring issues.

Electrical and Electronics
- Troubleshoot wiring harnesses, connectors, power distribution, sensors, flight electronics, GPS, telemetry and communication systems.
- Carry out connector crimping, soldering, cable routing and electrical repairs.
- Use a multimeter and other basic test equipment for voltage, continuity and electrical diagnostics.
- Identify loose connections, damaged cables, connector failures and power-related issues.

Mechanical and Propulsion Systems
- Inspect and maintain motors, ESCs, propellers, landing gear, frames, arms, payload mounts and other mechanical components.
- Carry out component replacement and mechanical adjustments.
- Check alignment, fastening, vibration and overall mechanical condition.
- Carry out preventive maintenance as per company schedules.

Spray System Maintenance
- Troubleshoot pumps, tubing, filters, flow sensors, valves and spray nozzles.
- Identify and resolve leakage, blockage, low-flow and spray-performance issues.
- Carry out spray-system cleaning, flushing and functional testing.




- Make sure spray systems are ready for daily field operations.

Battery and Power System
- Support the safe handling, inspection, charging, storage and maintenance of drone batteries.
- Monitor battery health and identify abnormal battery performance.
- Maintain battery usage and maintenance records.
- Make sure batteries are available and ready for planned field operations.

Team Training and Field Support
- Provide technical training and basic troubleshooting guidance to Drone Pilots, Co-Pilots and Supervisors.
- Train field teams on drone care, preventive maintenance, battery handling, spray-system maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
- Support the operations team during high-volume spray activities.
- Assist pilots in resolving technical issues during field operations.
- Help teams follow maintenance checklists and technical SOPs.
- Identify common mistakes and give practical corrective guidance.

Spray Operations Support
- Support the Pilot and Supervisor in keeping drones operationally ready during daily spray operations.
- Assist with technical set-up, system checks, spray-system preparation and post-operation cleaning when required.
- Attend quickly to breakdowns or technical issues during field operations.
- Coordinate with the Operations team to prioritise repairs based on operational requirements.

Cluster Inventory and Spare Parts Management
- Maintain an inventory of drone spare parts, consumables, tools and maintenance components for your assigned clusters.
- Track the availability and use of critical spares such as motors, ESCs, pumps, tubing, nozzles, connectors, wiring and filters.
- Maintain minimum stock levels for critical repair and maintenance items.
- Record parts issued, consumed, replaced and returned.
- Identify upcoming requirements and raise replenishment requests on time.
- Keep tools, spares, batteries and technical equipment properly stored and organised.
- Support periodic physical inventory audits.

Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain records of repairs, failures, component replacements, preventive maintenance, testing and drone downtime.
- Maintain a cluster-level maintenance history for each drone.
- Document recurring technical issues and field observations.
- Maintain spare-parts and inventory records.
- Report component shortages, defects and quality concerns.
- Follow technical SOPs, maintenance checklists and safety procedures.

Qualifications

- Diploma / ITI / Degree in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Mechatronics, Automobile, Robotics or a related technical discipline.
- Freshers with strong practical and technical skills may be considered.
- Candidates with 1 to 4 years of hands-on drone, robotics, electronics,



automobile or field-service experience will be preferred.

Required Skills

- Valuable understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with tools, multimeter, soldering, crimping and basic electrical testing.
- Ability to diagnose practical technical problems.
- Basic understanding of motors, ESCs, batteries, sensors, wiring and connectors.
- Ability to follow technical drawings, wiring diagrams and SOPs.
- Good attention to detail and workmanship.
- Comfortable working in outdoor agricultural field environments.
- Valid two-wheeler / four-wheeler driving licence preferred.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with agricultural drones, RC aircraft, robotics or UAV systems.
- Experience with drone propulsion and spray systems.
- Knowledge of Li-ion / LiPo battery systems.
- Basic knowledge of flight controllers, GPS, telemetry and RC systems.
- Experience in field service, repair or equipment maintenance.
- Basic inventory and spare-parts management experience.
- Basic understanding of embedded systems is an added advantage.
