Role Overview
We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team developing embedded software for railway train control and onboard equipment.
This is an early-career engineering role for someone with strong software fundamentals who is keen to develop expertise in embedded systems and the railway domain. You will contribute to software design, development, testing, debugging, and documentation while working with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams.
What You Will Do
- Develop, modify, test, and debug embedded software in C/C++ based on defined requirements.
- Contribute to software design, unit testing, integration, and verification activities.
- Analyze and resolve routine software problems using established engineering practices.
- Participate in requirement, design, code, and test reviews.
- Identify technical issues and risks and communicate them clearly to the team.
- Create and maintain software engineering documentation and traceability.
- Collaborate with software, systems, hardware, and validation teams.
- Follow established software development, coding, configuration-management, and quality processes.
- Support investigation and resolution of software defects within the assigned scope.
- Continuously build knowledge of embedded systems, product architecture, and railway applications.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 1-3 years of software development experience, in embedded systems.
- Valuable programming fundamentals in C and/or C++.
- Understanding of embedded software concepts,
including memory, interrupts, multitasking/concurrency, and hardware/software interfaces.
- Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix or an RTOS.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle, debugging, version control, and unit testing.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and learn from experienced engineers and subject-matter experts.
Good to Have
- Exposure to QNX, FreeRTOS, or another RTOS.
- Knowledge of communication interfaces/protocols such as Ethernet/TCP-IP, CAN, UART, SPI, or I C.
- Exposure to device drivers or BSP development.
- Python/Bash or other scripting experience.
- Familiarity with CI, automated testing, Agile/Scrum, or requirements traceability.
- Awareness of embedded cybersecurity concepts.
- Exposure to railway, automotive, industrial, aerospace, or another safety-critical domain.
