About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Firmware Engineer to lead our embedded firmware team of 3–4 junior/mid engineers. This is a hybrid role: roughly half hands-on architecture and development across our MCU and embedded-Linux product lines, and half technical leadership — mentoring engineers, setting coding and review standards, and owning firmware delivery across all of Oizom's concurrent product programs.

What You Will Do

1. Lead and mentor a team of 3–4 junior/mid firmware engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and hands-on pairing
2. Own firmware architecture decisions across all product lines and make build-vs-buy, framework, and platform calls
3. Set and enforce firmware coding standards, version control practices, and release processes
4. Plan and track firmware workstreams against product timelines and report status to the Head of R&D;
5. Develop and maintain firmware for ESP32/ESP32-S3-based products (sensor readout, connectivity, power management)
6. Develop and maintain firmware for STM32-based products (bare-metal or RTOS, sensor interfacing, real-time measurement paths)

Build and maintain Python-based firmware/application software for Raspberry Pi CM4-based products (config-driven sensor drivers, Modbus/serial interfacing, BLE, edge processing)
8. Containerize on-device services using Docker
9. Implement and debug communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, RS-485/Modbus RTU, SDI-12, MQTT, BLE
10. Work closely with Embedded Hardware and Design Engineering on bring-up, debugging, and DFM feedback loops

What We're Looking For

1. 6–9 years of professional embedded firmware development experience, including at least 1–2 years in a lead or mentoring capacity
2. Solid, hands-on C/C++ firmware development on both ESP32 (Arduino or ESP-IDF) and STM32 (bare-metal or an RTOS such as FreeRTOS)
3. Strong Python 3 skills for embedded Linux application/firmware work on Raspberry Pi CM4 or similar SBCs — equally strong on both the MCU and Linux/Python stacks
4. Practical experience with Docker for containerizing on-device services
5. Solid grasp of embedded communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, and at least one of RS-485/Modbus RTU, SDI-12, or MQTT
6. Hands-on experience with wireless/cellular connectivity: Quectel 4G/LTE modules (AT command interfacing), LoRa, WiFi, and BLE stacks
7. Comfortable with hardware-level debugging: JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, reading schematics and datasheets
8. Git-based version control and structured code review practices
9. Demonstrated ability to lead a small team — planning work, unblocking others, and maintaining code quality without micromanaging
