Job Description

Role:

Role as Operation Head of the 1000MW (2X150 MW, 2X350 MW) Thermal Power Plant, you will be responsible for operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and driving strategic growth.

Note:-should have an experience on PF & CFBC Boiler, with Minimum 300 MW experience
Experience:-15-25 Years
Qualification:-B.Tech/B.E-Mechanical/Electrical
Responsibilities:

1. Formulate and execute strategic operational plans to ensure optimal production levels, plant efficiency, and minimal downtime.
2. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the thermal power plant, ensuring that all systems and equipment are running smoothly and efficiently.
3. Monitor and ensure the plant meets its daily, monthly, and yearly power generation targets while optimizing fuel usage and operational costs.
4. Maximize energy output while ensuring that plant operations adhere to environmental standards and regulatory limits.
5. Develop and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all personnel working within the plant.
6. Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international environmental and safety standards (e.g., emissions control, water usage, and waste disposal).
7. Conduct regular safety drills, audits, and inspections to maintain a safe working environment and address any hazards or risks.
8. Develop a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to ensure equipment reliability and avoid unplanned downtime.

Implement predictive maintenance strategies using data analytics and condition monitoring techniques to identify potential failures before they occur.
10. Oversee major maintenance activities and plant shutdowns, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
11. Ensure that critical spare parts and consumables are adequately stocked to avoid unnecessary delays in operations.
12. Lead a diverse team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, providing direction, motivation, and development opportunities.
13. Ensure continuous training programs for staff to improve operational efficiency and safety awareness. This may include specialized training for handling new technologies, regulatory changes, or advanced maintenance practices.
14. Set clear performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
15. Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effective operation while maintaining high performance and safety standards.
16. Continuously analyze operational processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, fuel optimization, and energy efficiency.
17. Ensure the effective allocation of resources, including human resources, machinery, and raw materials like coal or gas.
18. Continuously monitor plant performance using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)



such as heat rate, availability, reliability, and emissions.
19. Use performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions for better operational outcomes.
20. Lead or support projects aimed at improving plant efficiency, such as the introduction of advanced technologies or the adoption of best industry practices.
21. Monitor and control emissions in line with environmental laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with air quality standards.
22. Oversee the plants water usage and waste management processes to minimize environmental impact.
23. Lead initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of the plant, such as implementing energy recovery systems or transitioning to greener technologies.
24. Lead the response during emergency situations, such as equipment failure, natural disasters, or environmental hazards, to minimize damage and ensure business continuity.
25. Identify potential risks to plant operations (e.g., fuel supply disruptions, technical failures) and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.
26. Organize regular emergency drills and simulations to ensure the plant is prepared for unexpected situations.
27. Maintain effective communication with other departments, such as maintenance, engineering, HR, and management, to align operational goals and expectations
28. Represent the plant in discussions with regulatory authorities, environmental agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and compliance.
