Job Description Assistant Manager Operations (Travel Operations)
Position Title
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Manager Operations to lead highperforming travel operations teams in a fast-paced and customer-centric environment. The
ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Global Distribution Systems (GDS),
airline ticketing, travel operations, people management, workforce planning, and service
delivery management. This role requires a leader who can effectively drive operational
excellence, achieve business KPIs, manage large teams, and ensure compliance with
industry standards and airline regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Travel Operations & GDS Expertise
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Amadeus and Sabre GDS platforms.
- Manage end-to-end travel operations including reservations, reissues, exchanges,
refunds, fare calculations, and ticketing support.
- Provide guidance and resolution on complex travel itineraries and customer
escalations.
- Ensure adherence to airline policies, BSP/ARC guidelines, and travel industry best
practices.
- Support teams in handling domestic and international travel requirements across
multiple markets.
Ticketing & Airline Revenue Protection
- Possess strong knowledge of airline ticketing processes and fare construction.
- Manage and monitor Airline Debit Memos (ADM) and ensure prevention of revenue
leakage.
- Drive loss management initiatives through audit controls and process compliance.
- Investigate ticketing discrepancies and implement corrective actions to reduce
financial exposure.
- Ensure compliance with airline contracts, fare rules, and governing regulations.
Operational Leadership
- Lead daily business operations while ensuring achievement of key operational
targets.
- Drive service excellence through effective monitoring of:
- SLA (Service Level Agreements)
- Productivity
- Quality
- Accuracy
- Operational Efficiency
- Manage workflow distribution and resource allocation to ensure smooth business
operations.
- Handle escalation management and provide timely resolutions to stakeholders and
clients.
Workforce & Performance Management
- Strong understanding of workforce planning and resource optimization.
- Monitor and manage:
- Staffing
- Shrinkage
- Attrition
- Occupancy
- Collaborate with WFM and leadership teams to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Drive performance management programs to improve team effectiveness.
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop team leaders and travel consultants.
- Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, career development discussions,
and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Manage employee relations and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Drive employee retention and engagement initiatives.
- Uphold the Atain values and culture.
Process Improvement & Stakeholder Management
- Identify operational gaps and implement process improvements to enhance
efficiency and customer experience.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to drive operational goals.
- Prepare and present operational reports, business reviews, and performance
dashboards.
- Lead special projects and business initiatives as required.
Required Skills & Competencies
Experience & Qualification
Mandatory Experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience as a Team Leader in Travel Operations
- Experience in Travel Operations, Travel Management Companies (TMC), Online
Travel Agencies (OTA), Airlines, or Travel Contact Centers is highly preferred.
- Experience managing back-office operations will be an added advantage.
