The Enrolled Agent IRS Resolution and Representation is responsible for representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service and communicating directly with IRS representatives regarding collection, compliance, and resolution matters.

This role handles IRS calls, reviews taxpayer account information, negotiates approved resolution strategies, addresses collection activity, documents IRS communications, and coordinates next steps with the internal case-management team.

The ideal candidate has direct experience speaking with the IRS and is comfortable handling installment agreements, financial analysis, levy matters, collection cases, and taxpayer representation.

Key Responsibilities

- Represent taxpayers before the IRS within the authority granted to Enrolled Agents.
- Conduct calls with IRS departments including ACS, ACSS, CSCO, Practitioner Priority Service, Revenue Officers, and other applicable units.
- Review case files, transcripts, financial information, and resolution strategies before IRS calls.
- Verify taxpayer balances, filing compliance, collection status, CSED information, and account activity.
- Follow the approved resolution strategy and EA Call Game Plan for each case.
- Negotiate installment agreements and other appropriate collection resolutions.
- Handle streamlined installment agreements and Partial Payment Installment Agreements when applicable.
- Work with Forms 433-F, 433-A, and 433-B.
- Present and explain taxpayer financial information to IRS representatives.
- Address wage levies, bank levies, collection notices, and other enforcement activity.
- Request levy releases when appropriate.




- Address defaulted installment agreements and reinstatement requests.
- Assist with Currently Not Collectible determinations when appropriate.
- Handle penalty-abatement matters when assigned.
- Identify missing tax returns, compliance issues, documentation needs, and other barriers to resolution.
- Obtain IRS deadlines, document requests, collection holds, and next-step instructions.
- Document IRS calls clearly and completely.
- Create or communicate follow-up tasks after each IRS interaction.
- Escalate cases involving significant legal, procedural, compliance, or enforcement concerns.
- Coordinate with Case Managers, preparers, and other EAs regarding case developments.
- Comply with Circular 230, taxpayer confidentiality rules, and internal procedures.
- Stay current on IRS collection procedures and applicable IRS guidance.

Requirements

- Active Enrolled Agent credential in good standing with the IRS.
- Active PTIN.
- Valid SSN or ITIN.
- CAF number or ability to obtain and maintain a CAF number.
- Ability to be authorized on Form 2848 and represent taxpayers before the IRS.
- Direct experience communicating with IRS representatives strongly preferred.
- Experience with IRS collections and tax resolution.
- Ability to read and analyze IRS transcripts.
- Knowledge of installment agreements, PPIAs, CNC status, levies, and collection procedures.
- Experience with Forms 433-F, 433-A, 433-B, and 433-D preferred.
- Strong verbal communication and negotiation skills.
- Robust case documentation and follow-up skills.
- Ability to recognize when a matter must be escalated.
- Ability to work during IRS operating hours.
- Ability to handle confidential taxpayer information appropriately.
